interesting i didnt know that. ill have to check it out. i just watched the jules verne rides from disneysea in tokyo on youtube. pretty neat stuff, i wish theyd bring those over here to.

20k UTS was a big maintenance nightmare and legal liability pain in the *ss. It's why they closed it down and got rid of it. I don't think we'll see anything like the TDL ride appear back at WDW ever again...

What is the liability concern? Going up and down the ladder into the subs?

Yep. Wet, slippery metal surfaces = liability lawsuits from slip & falls

...but don't you have to enter the subs in the Nemo ride at Disneyland in the same way as the old 20k ride?

Keep in mind that 20KUTS was above ground thanks the the utilidors (tunnels under the MK) and the Nemo ride at DL is in the ground. The one at MK leaked... a lot!!!! That is the main reason they closed it besides the reason mindflipper posted above.

Aaaah, gotcha. I didn't know if there were any distinctive differences between the 20k ride at DL vs WDW.

Thanks, I can't remember exactly where and how far the Utilidors went, but I had thought I had read somewhere on the net something about that...

Just catching up on some old MiceChats. The Little Mermaid for WDW looks awesome in the models! I think the show building's exterior is going to blow DCA's version out of the water

It's more fitting to the theme of TLM than DLR, but it is not as colorful or as detailed as DLR. I prefer WDW's exterior personally.

If WDW builds it as it is shown in the concept art, it is going to look amazing!

But even the models are scaled down in grandeur in comparison to the concept art...

But then the final installation is usually plussed from what the model shows...it does look amazing with all the water and details though!

But at least WDW has the ride itself fitting in better themed area than DLR - really? DCA? It needs to be in Fantasyland!

Maybe they felt Ariel would be more at home by the water?
