Over-coming the gloomies

Our long awaited Labor Day weekend trip had to be cancelled because I got sick. There wasn't a choice, no energy, no exposure to the sun (antibiotics), it just wasn't going to happen.
Now, feeling enough better to realize I missed out on all that fun, I have the gloomies. We are planning another trip, but not til winter, and I need to cheer up now. What do you do...geez, this sounds absurd now that I'm writing it, but if you have an idea I would welcome it. Snertz, I really wanted to go!

So sorry about your illness and the cancellation. Hope you get better real soon!
As to the gloomies, I like to watch movies that always make me laugh or take me to a completely different time or place. I believe in escapism!
You could also do some more planning for your winter trip, try to come up with something that you've never done at Disney before. Planning the trip always makes me happy!
Cheers!

Sorry to hear you're down. I would be also if I had to cancel a trip like that. It always helps to be around people you love/like. I also find listening to Subsonic a real help in changing my mood for the better!! I pray you feel better!!

I think that you should throw yourself into the details of your upcoming trip. I get so excited planning that it ends up being a really fun part of the trip.
Also second the music recommendation...music is a powerful force, put on your favorite tunes and have fun!

Slide show your last Disney vacation, put subsonic radio on in the background as it plays through and plan what you want to do on your upcoming trip.
You will start to get excited and then hopefully you will feel better

You all are just the nicest people ever.
Music, subsonic, was exactly perfect, and I made some idea lists for next time.
Thank you, really thank you, for the good wishes and the creative thoughts.

Hope you are feeling better soon! Now, go buy a really good book on Walt Disney's life, and make sure you have a travel guide to the parks as well. Read the books, listen to Subsonic, and put a countdown clock on your computer desktop! The time will pass quickly and you will be armed hopefully some tidbits of information that will make your future trip exciting. I ALWAYS have a trip planned. As soon as we are back from one, I know the exact day when we are going back! Oh, and P.S. have a couple chocolate chip cookies... that always helps!

Wow that is always a concern that you have when there is a trip planned. Luckily this has never happened to us. I would advise you that you should go ahead and get to work on the winter trip. I would recommend that you build it bigger and better than the one that had to get canceled. I find that looking at pictures of previous vacations might not be the best option as it may make you get depressed seeing yourself so happy. I would say start requesting music on the site and get active on the board. You will notice that you are able to relive your previous stays and get more excited towards your future stays.
I highly agree with the ticker idea as that will help you count down until your next trip and as it goes down the excitement will get higher.

OK - now that several people have suggested a ticker on my computer I went and found one. It's counting down - 50 days until my Food and Wine Vacation. Yea Me!

missynole you need to put your ticker on your profile in the signature box for it to show on your postings.

I'm not sure how to do that.

When I get the "gloomies" I look forward to my next trip to WDW and start planning. Last time I got them I booked my trip for the food festival (this coming Oct. 4th at BWV), bought tickets to MNSSHP and made reservations at the Flying Fish Cafe, Le Cellier, Chef Mickey's, 50s Prime Time Cafe, San Angel Inn and Captain's Grille (For breakfasts).
Took me 3 days to plan it all out. Most of it will be spent in Epcot, but for the most part I was happy at the end. Since then, I have not been gloomy at all as I have this trip with my wife to look forward to.

I'm not sure how to do that.
When you get the URL for the ticker, take the one that has the and copy it into your signature. The signature box is accessible through the profile which is located in the top left corner of the page.
