Don't add the Wine option!!!

Post by cousininmiami » Aug Thu 20, 2009 12:38 pm

We just got back from our wonderful "adult trip". Stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and bought the Dining option, then bought the Wine option add-on. Wine was great, don't get me wrong... but NOT a good deal! It was $40 per day per room, and told to me on the phone by central reservations that ANY bottle of wine was included, and that most people get a $75-$80 bottle of wine each night. Well, NOT how it works. Much to our suprise, your option is any bottle of wine for $53 or less! And the restaurants we went to only had ONE choice that was over the $40 and under $53! There were a lot of options in the $20 - $30 range, but who would do that??? We already had "pre-paid" $40! I was miffed our first dinner when we found out... then just forgot about it, not worth ruining a trip.

So, wine was good, but not worth the value, and I will NEVER do that again! Pass it along all of my Disney frinds!

That's strange! I know that they're trying to trying to make their money, but Disney is usually pretty good about answering questions truthfully. Maybe the person that was booking you got wrong or outdated information. I'm just glad I don't like wine or I probably would have experienced this first-hand already.

Did you try talking to the concierge at your hotel, and try to cancel the package?

I thought about trying to cancel. But I am not a complainer, I just don't do it again, and pass the word along. I do not think they were malicious in trying to get my money, I just think that not all of the reservation agents are totally aware of all the rules. I suppose the only way to find out the real skinny on something is blogs like this. So the more people that know the rules here, we can all pass it along.

I am glad if I can help someone else make a decision.

Wow, that's pretty lame if you ask me. That would be like getting the meal plan, but having a $20 limit on the entre. I guess wine is a little different and can really hurt them if they allowed any price bottle of wine but $53 is not a big enough limit for the $40 price to make any sense at all!

Thanks for the heads up!

according to the official website, there's a brochure which lists what wines are on the plan, and what they cost. here's the link to the brochure: http://adisneyworld.disney.go.com/media ... neList.pdf

I'm not convinced the dining option is a good deal either. How many of us order that much food under normal circumstances? I think it's better to pay as you go and enjoy the "stress-free" feeling of not worrying about unused credits. ;)
