Hey all. I'm relatively new to the forums, first topic, but the family and I are going to Port Orleans Riverside in November. This is definitely not our first trip to WDW but first time to this hotel. I just wanted to ask, has anybody gone and if so what is it like? Is there anything we must see there? I just wanted to get a general gauge on the hotel, Thanks!

We were there for a week long visit about two years ago. It was lovely. Very pretty walkways on the way to the buildings, beautiful trees, nice central location with a restaurant. We really liked it! It's supposedly between a value and a deluxe resort, but it really has the feel of a deluxe resort. You will love it! Have a wonderful time.

I've stayed at PO-RS many times when I was younger and with my family. We loved the atmosphere. It's a quant resort. Last Nov. I stayed at PO-FQ with DH. We LOVED it! It had been many years since I stayed there. It's small and the food court is redone, very lovely. We went over to PO-RS and did the carriage ride for our anniversary and LOVED it! When we take another WDW vacation and if we stay in a moderate resort, I think we'd pick PO-RS! The pools are nice and the gift shop is huge!

I stayed there and enjoyed it. They got alot to do there. A few things are you can take a boat to Downtown Disney from the hotel and back. Also, you can rent bikes and boats and ride them around the resort. There's a spot to fish. They got live music as well. It looks very nice as well. I wanna stay there again.

My Wife and I stayed there in August of '07 with our friends. Very relaxing amid the Disney Rush. It is very expansive and beautiful to walk around. I believe it was at one time supposed to be a deluxe resort - not sure with looking it up though.

If the main theme pool gets crowded, there a quite a few other pools that may be closer to your room.

Yes, we also used the smaller pool near our room. In fact, we just used that one.

This is the one resort the I stay at repeatedly. I love it. It's quaint, quiet, and absolutely charming. Whenever Mom and I go to the Flower Show in the Spring this is where we stay. The rooms are old fashioned with a Southern charm to them. We try to stay in the "Magnolia Bend" secion. This is the Antebellum style rooms. There is also "Alligator Bayou" section which is rustic and has a "cabin" feel in the rooms. I think for a Moderate resort you couldn't do any better. Since you're going in November are you taking in the Food and Wine or Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party?

We love PO French Quarter. Its smaller, the beigents are wonderful in the food court. We took the boat to downtown disney for a relaxing afternoon. I enjoy hearing the carriages clop over the walk ways at night.

We will be there for the last day of the Food and Wine festival but wont be there for the Christmas party. we are going early November

I would have to agree with almost everything you all are saying about PORS and POFQ, but i must add that Both Port Orleans resorts share the same buses and stop at the French Quarter first then move onto the Riverside stops, so if you like sitting down on the buses, FQ is the way to go, but u cannot go wrong with either resort.

We stayed for a week at PO-RS this year.
Booked for two weeks next year

The whole resort feels very spacious. Because it is.
You will have a fair walk to the food court whichever area you end up in.
This isn't a problem though as the walks are all pleasant with lovely views.
(Notice nobody above has complained about the distances you have to cover. They didn't notice.)

If you had to walk these distances at an All Star to get to the food court there would be an uproar

If you are a runner/walker/jogger the Surrey track is very nice and is just under one mile for a full circuit close to the river.

Wife and I absolutely love PO-FQ...its small and almost always seems quiet, and it has a lot of character!

You'll love it. It's relaxing and peaceful. Even when crowded.

Dixie Landings pool is still one of the best

I've stayed at the French Quarter and Riverside. I preferred staying at Riverside. While the pool in the French Quarter is neat with the dragon and all, I really favor going to Ole Man Island's pool. It's more rustic and has a waterslide. There's also the fishing hole on the island if you want to pay to fish and of course all the pleasant walkways.

The cafeteria is also pretty nice with the working waterwheel outside that moves gears on the inside. For some reason I'm thinking it also moves the fans in the check-in area. This lobby also has a bigger store. You can also catch a boat to Downtown Disney from this area as well as the French Quarter.

No matter where you stay in this resort you'll love the experience. The music is great no matter what area you are in. After staying here the past few times I've determined I can't go back to Pop Century.
