Has Anyone Ever Been in One of the Parades?

and if you have, which one, and how did you get chosen, assuming you aren't part of a marching band or a celebrity who did the "I'm going to Disney World/Land commerical."

Was it fun?

I didn't do one in WDW, but in DL for the 45th anniversary they had the Parade of Stars. They picked "45" (I think it was more) people to be in the parade. I was lucky enough to do it twice...however the first time was waaaay better than the second.

About an hour or so prior, the omnibus and CMs were recruiting people and they chose from the crowds that surrounded them. We were then taken to an area just behind the walls and we learned our parts and put on our costumes.

The first time I did it, it was actually during the 45th anniversary so we got these really funky animal hats that separated you by groups...once the 45th was over, they didn't do that anymore. (plus, because the first time was during the summer, they had ice water for us at the end too)

I loved it because it has always been a dream of mine to be in the parades! I love making people smile without having to deal with them first-hand (does that sound terrible?). It is quite tiring though..waving like crazy for 20-25 minutes straight (I'm sure one gets used to it) :D

Thanks for sharing.
Did anyone take any pictures of you in costume?

I was in a parade back in '75, but it was part of a marching band. Back then and through the next year WDW had highschool bands march in there bi-centenial parade. But to your point, I have unfortunately never been chosen out of the crowd.

Unfortunately, no. My husband tried, but we moved around too much and he was not able to "follow" the parade. At the end, it was a really quick undress, thank you, have a magical day.

But it was pretty cool (and the closest I'll ever get to my "dream") :D
