Hey, Jacca5660, why do you want to go running around and shooting aliens? What have they ever done to you? :?
I remember we where on a trip and we had just eaten and an Alien jumped out of my friends chest and then came after the rest of us. It was horrible...oh my bad! That was a movie!

Let's hope it stays that way. Remember what happened with the TTA a few months ago?
We are all a little weird
And life's a little weird,
And when we find someone whose
Weirdness is compatible with ours,
We join up with them and fall in
Mutual weirdness and call it Love.”

I suppose I was basing my opinion on the original incarnation of the PeopleMover, which was explicitly designed to be a mass transportation system of the future. That was back when Tomorrowland had a purpose, but that's another story.

However, even with the newer version of Tomorrowland (which gives you a peek into a bizarre future of cartoons, rocks, and metal), the TTA was still a fantasy version of mass transportation. The "NOW APPROACHING..." bits were part of that theme, although they were kind of lame.

Now they're moving a little closer to the original version, by adding phrases that reflect the original spiel, but to me it seems a little like that false homage thing Disney does where they reference the past, but they don't try to emulate or build on it.

All that stuff aside, for me the root of the problem is that the new voice is annoying the first time through.

From everything I'm hearing, most of the refurb was concentrated in the queue area and post-show. The ride itself received only necessary maintenance. A lot of folks seem to be upset that no onboard audio or some of the cooler in-ride effects from the DL version were added, but with all the attention (and money) going to the upcoming Fantasyland/Toontown project I'm kind of surprised that Space Mountain got done at all.

Interesting in a couple of ways. Gives an idea about how the actual ride was affected by the refurb. Also I found it interesting how refrubs differ (mostly in the amount of time they want an attraction dark) between Anaheim and Orlando.

It looks like the upgrades to the Mountain are all pretty cool.

Can't complain about something to relieve the boredom of waiting in line. They identified the Star Tunnel music as something people love and somehow found the restraint to not replace it for no reason.

It sort of sucks that you can't watch the rockets go by while you wait, but the focus on darkening the attraction is admirable and it does add more tension for first-time guests. I wonder what the view from the PeopleMover is like without the glow-in-the-dark strips on the rockets.

Anyway, this is exactly the kind of thing I wish they were doing to all the attractions all the time. No fixing what ain't broke, but still freshening things up enough that they're worth taking another look. Nothing that will ruin old memories or disappoint fans of the older version.

I can only imagine how nice Epcot would be if all the attractions got similar facelifts from time to time.

I enjoyed that article and I feel like they could add some of those features perhaps in another refurb but I understand, the holidays are coming, and they need all of their main attractions open for that. And they also need to start saving money for the huge fantasyland refurb.

Tomorrow will have all the reports you need. It has had soft openings since early last week, though. But tomorrow it "officially" opens.

I didn't read through all the posts, so forgive me if it's been asked, but did they change the ride vehicals? Has anyone rode it yet from here? Are they still loose? I rode it twice when we were there and thought I was gonna fly out of my seat!

They did not change the ride vehicles, they're still the single passenger. As far as how the ride is...I'll let you know soon! 8-)
