What is your favorite queue in WDW?

Post by mdk010 » Apr Thu 09, 2009 1:30 pm

At Disney, for most rides, waiting in the line isn't too bad. Disney does an excellent job theming the lines to make the wait seem shorter.

What is the line that you enjoy the most?

I really enjoy waiting for ToT and EE.

I thought this would be easy...until I really started going through some of my favorites. I'll do them by park...

MK: POTC (it's inside...almost chose Space Mtn but didn't)
Epcot: Test Track (lots of things to look at)
DHS: TSMM (probably the best queue in all of WDW)
AK: Everest (would be the best queue...but the summer heat factors in)

MK: POTC (because it's inside and it's always nice and cool in there. I might've said Space Mountain if my abject fear of roller coasters didn't prevent me from riding it)
EPCOT: The Seas. Although I have philosophical objections to the Nemo-ification of this pavilion, the queue area is one of the most visually interesting in WDW.
DHS: Star Tours (I haven't been there since Toy Story Midway Mania opened)
AK: Dinosaur. (once again, because it's inside)

Hmm..

MK: Hard choice. Have to go with Space Mountain in the end though the Haunted Mansion queue is a close second. Inside, which is always a plus, and those star fields are really cool. I hope they'll still be there post-refurb.
Epcot: Thinking about this made me realize most of Epcot's queues are dull. My vote goes to Mission:Space. The rotating space station bit is nifty.
MGM (not putting DHS and you can't make me): Tower of Terror. TSMM was cool but I didn't find it met up to the hype. And it was loud in there. ToT's queue has old-school Disney detail (painted on water-scum line, anyone?).
AK: Everest. See above re: Disney detail.

Edit to add: I agree that the new Seas queue was pretty, and clever. It's a shame I won't be seeing it again since I can't stand the ride.

I agree with most of the posters:

MGM (Yes, it is still MGM for me, too, DisBeamer)--I love that Tower of Terror queue. It is almost a shame that the lines have been so short there the last couple of (off season) times I have been because the garden area is so cool.

AK--I also love the Expedition Everest queue. There is always something to look at there.

MK--A tough one: POTC is always a welcoming cool on a hot day. Jungle Cruise has an interesting line. You can watch the ride in a cool way from Big Thunder. It is kind of a toss up.

EPCOT: I guess Mission:Space for the circular thing. (Not that I will ever see that again--once was enough for the ride.) The big pictures are sort of pretty in Soarin'. EPCOT has sort of icky queues.

great question

MK- Pirates

AK- Everest (before that was there i would say Kali River Rapids)

DHS- ToT (I do like TSMM too but cant beat tower of terror)

Epcot- Havent really had to queue properly in Epcot as either fast passed or single riders or no queue when got to the ride.

MK: Buzz Lightyear, because it moves so quickly and the bright colors and decor gets you in the spirit of the ride

EC: The Seas, best theming from entrance to boarding

DHS: No question, Tower of Terror. Great theming, quality preshow

AK: Dinosaur. Well themed for the first part, although it gets sterile after the preshow
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

MK- Pirates of the Carribean (just everything about it rocks!)
Epcot- Soarin' (a bit sparse but still very cool blue neon!)
AK- Tough to Be a Bug ( I love going inside the tree)
DHS- Great Movie Ride (love the preshow)

Well, I can think of many that I enjoy but the tops would be as follows for me.

MK - Pirates of the Caribbean (excellent theme from beginning to end, it really feels like you are in a cave or hidden fortress and it's so cool and refreshing as others said)

Epcot - The American Adventure (okay, so it's not really a queue but more of a holding area, I just love the whole build up to the attraction. The singing, the art on the walls, the walk up the stairs with all of the flags overhead, etc.)

AK - Kilimanjaro Safari (well, it's mostly a covered sidewalk but there are nice plants and vegetation to look at and you are shaded from the sun most of the way. This is usually the first thing we do upon arriving in hopes of seeing more animals while it's still not too hot out. Perhaps I'm just in a good mood when we first arrive and that's why I picked this? :)

DHS - The Great Movie Ride (while it's been years since I had to wait through the entire queue area, this is a wonderfully themed attraction and queue. My other love, next to Disney is movies and home theater so I had to pick TGMR here.

The queues are part of what separate Disney attractions from what would otherwise just be a "ride". How boring would it be to walk up to a door and sit down on a ride car and be on your way? Disney does an excellent job of wetting our appetites with beautiful exteriors, lush and detailed interiors and a transformation to another time and place that happens the minute you approach the attraction. I am very appreciative of the effort and thought that goes into every little detail, not just the ride itself.

They've all been named already. ;) Ironically, we rarely see the really good queues because we fastpass them. I guess my favorite is ToT because of the mist in the summertime.

Here are two that I didn't see named, because they're over in DL (but I didn't see this thread in the DL forum): Roger's Rabbit's Toontown Spin and Monster's Inc. Both have great queues.
