Gooding's grocery store...

this is more a trip down memory lane, but i'm wondering if anyone else knows about it...

when i was kid and my family started taking me down to WDW, we would always stop at Gooding's Grocery Store in the crossroads plaza just at the end of (i think) world dr. we'd pick up some quick grocery we'd need for the trip, like milk, soda, cereal, etc.

does anybody still go there or ever been there? i still go every trip, even though my parents now grocery shop at a Publix further off property.

i just the nostalgia...and the cool, tiny square shopping carts!

I've been there. Not for years, though. Reports I've heard more recently have said that it's really in bad shape these days, too. It was always crazy overpriced (which I don't blame them for, really; they had a captive audience), but I've heard that it's dirty and run down inside now. If you've been recently, would you say that's not the case? I've been avoiding it because I've heard that from a few different people.

Yes we go to Goodings every time we visit WDW. It is in bad shape alittle bit but nothing has happened yet to stop us from going. We stop by to get some snacks and other stuff like tooth paste, hair brush, milk, soda, whatever. I like the store lol.

I've only been there once or twice. It does look a little run down inside - I was expecting something a little nicer since I heard that they charge more for their groceries, but since then I have always driven the extra couple of miles to Publix if I need anything.

We still go there! I remember it is a family tradition to stop off for a couple of 12 packs of soda for our rooms either before we check-in or on our first night. We actually went there last year, and realized how over-priced they are. It ends out being the Hess Express' in WDW are cheaper on soda!

I personally don't think it is really that run down, but I do enjoy their shopping carts. They are not like any of the supermarkets around here.

We were more of a Publix family. There was one not far from the entrance to WDW. We always went to the same one...out on International Drive.

Since we traveled to WDW in an RV, we'd stock up on supplies there before checking to Fort Wilderness. Once there, nothing could move us from our campsite, so we'd actually pay the prices for snacks & essentials at the various general store outposts throughout FW.

The only thing I go to Cross Roads for is Buffalo Wild Wings, Fudruckers(SP?), Friday's, Red Lobster, and McDonald's, and Taco Bell. Won't shop for anything at Cross Roads.

On a side note, disneyMng, does that Publix your parents go to have a Subway close by?

Goodings grocery store...the three evilest words the could be posted in a wdw forum. If I ever go back there again it will only be to celebrate its going out of business! Just because ur located near wdw didnt mean you have to increase ur prices 50% over what a normal store would sell at. Word of advice just drive 2miles further and go to Publix by the outlet mall.

About 2 miles West of International?

Edit: Goodings...Publix...Winn Dixie...Lest we forget the ABC Liquor Lounges

There is also a Walgreens on International Drive that is pretty cheap. Also if you go there at night, you can catch a lot of CM's stopping off for a few things as they head home. It's pretty cool to figure out exactly where they work by the costume they are wearing.

Yeah, I noticed that also! It is kind of cool to see that.

Interesting to hear that it's still in 'shoppable' condition. That said, I'd agree with everyone who suggests going to Publix or the nearest SuperWalmart if it's an option. Much, much less expensive.

It kind if funny I was directed to go there to get needed supplies the first time I went to Disney by my travel agent. Since I had a rental car I could have gone to any store in the area. I know better now but boy did they get me that first time.
