hey everybody,

i've had a recent spill of lactose intolerance, especially to ice cream, which used to be my favorite! i'm heading to WDW in july and was wondering if anyone could recommend either great lactose-free ice cream on property or other great baked desserts?

I would suggest either calling WDW to get information, or there is a book that I would highly reccomend:

PassPorter's Open Mouse for Walt Disney World and the Disney Cruise Line: Easy Access Vacations for Travelers with Extra Challenges

http://www.amazon.com/PassPorters-Mouse ... 767&sr=1-1

It has all sorts of special needs in there including food alergies. It is a really great and informative Disney tour book.

I believe if you call down, they can make sure that when you dine (at least sit-down), the restaurant can make some lactose free ice cream for you.

and if they can't, I do believe that WDW carries fruit sorbets which are lactose free (basically they're sweetened frozen fruit juice).

outside of that, I would recommend carrying some lactase enzyme caplets.

Call ahead when you make your dining reservations and let them know. My son has a dairy allergy and they usually have sorbet, rice dream, soy ice cream on hand. They also have Divvies products as well for him and sometimes even in the food courts as well! If you have any other questions send me a message. I'd be glad to help! I have a contact email for a contact at Disney as well if would like to contact her.

If you go to the Ice Cream Parlor in MK they have the non-dairy substitutes as well!
