What Draws You To EPCOT?

Post by 99Soulz » Feb Tue 24, 2009 10:39 am

Ok, here's something that I was wondering. Is it Future World or the World Showcase that draws you to EPCOT?

It might be the combination of the 2 completely different sections but if you had to choose to be a park of its own, what would it be?

I would have to say World Showcase. I love taking in all of the cultures of the countries and talking to the people who work in each country. I think the fact that each pavillion is staffed by natives of that country is one of the best parts about it. The WS is also where I go to unwind. I usually budget almost a full day there, so ther's no rush to get to the next pavillion. Also, IllumiNations happens in the WS Lagoon, which is my favorite show by far. :D

For me it is World Showcase now, but when I was younger it was definitely Future World. Of course when I was younger Future World still dealt with the future; it had character and a soul unlike now...sigh. At least World Showcase still has some character, well at least until Kim Possible takes over and devours its soul like the teyollocuani she is.

Even though Future World is not the place it once was, I still can't resist it.

As many others have said I love Future World! Spaceship Earth and Soarin are some of my all time favorite rides. However that being said, EPCOT to me is all about the World Showcase! I love all the culture that I can experience at one time. It's like taking a trip around the world and I really love it!

Amen, brother!

It saddens me to see what Future World has become.

I loved Future World as a kid, but the new rides just aren't my thing. World Showcase is always amazing!

This is a difficult one.........hmmmmm. I may have to ponder this one for a good long while. EPCOT is definitely a major draw for me. During my trip in Dec. 06 with JS3901 we went to EPCOT first and basically spent the first 30 hours of our park going time at EPCOT, so I know that EPCOT is big for him too, but to say which part is better.....hmmmm.

I'm going to have to go back through my pictures to remember all the fun stuff everywhere. I mean I love traveling, but I also love the "futuristic" feel of Future World. And like other have said future world has changed so much over the years that it really isn't the same as it once was and World Showcase is basically the same, with minor alterations but that could be a negative. Danggit, Now I have to go think about things, nuts.

World Showcase no contest. As has been said here, to much has happened to Future World. It's name has become a misnomer, it's a very sad deterioration. IMHO they should rename it Now World or (I got it!) Show Room Showcase. They can have computers set up so you can go on-line and buy what you see! Man will you think of all the sponsor money Disney would bring in. They could set up the land and Living Sea so you could have groceries delivered to you house when you got home. You could go to Ice Station Cool and even have Coke delivered to your door. If you extend this out think of the possibilities with the food, wine, beer, and other stuff you could have delivered to your door from World Showcase.

Like I said, I think what has happened SAD!

you're right. EPCOT is my favorite park. It's tough for me to choose as well. With the advent of Soarin' and Test Track, along with Ellen at the Energy pavillion, Future World is great. I love rides, so Future World gets my vote there.

But, like spodie, I love World Showcase because I'm big on traveling and learning about other cultures. Plus, the themes in each country are some of the best I've seen, with touches that are basically trademarks of those countries. I love just strolling around World Showcase and taking it all in. Also, the American Adventure show is really thought-provoking and emotional. just that show, along with the themegets my vote for World Showcase.

too tough to choose just one. it's like trying to choose which kid is your favorite.

I know, I could just add a poll option for "both" and avoid this tough choice.

I voted World Showcase, but now I wish I could retract my vote! World Showcase is awesome, I think we spend the most time in that area of the park. BUT, my fav. part of EPCOT is Nemo and Friends (is that technically part of Future World?) and the fact that you can dive there in the 7 million gallon tank!!!! I've done it twice and it does not get old. That's one of my most awesome memories of EPCOT! The dives!!!! :D

It's probably very obvious what I chose but I'll say it anyway.

World Showcase hands down. I can spend all day and night in World Showcase and be satisfied. I just love the overall atmosphere of the place, from the great view of the other countires across the lagoon to the shows/performances played in each countries, to the cast members unique to their countries (i love learning about each countries cultures when talking to certain cast members).

The restaurants are also another key factor, then to top it all of, World Showcase is the home to the greatest firework show ever, Illuminations. It is a great show, from the delivery to the fireworks connecting at the right sound of the musical piece plus the story it tells as well.

Also, working in World Showcase also gave me a better perspective on everything and I will never forget the time I spent working there.

I could easily spend a day just sitting on a park bench in each country for an hour :) Wait a minute, I've done that already. Heck I would do it again!
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

I voted for Future World, but would have preferred a third option which would be a combination of the two. I find that the big attractions in future world like Soarin, Test Track, JII, and Mission Space really make me want to go to EPCOT. Also, the sensational shopping and dining makes me walk around the World Showcase. So for me, it is a little bit of both worlds that makes me go to EPCOT multiple times throughout our stay at the world.

Though Future World is not like it was in the 80's and 90's I still have to vote for FW. I still wish they would have left Horizions it was my all time favorite!
