Any Plans for a new Theme Park?

It's been awhile since Animal Kingdom opened. I was wondering if WDW has any plans for a 5th Theme Park. I always thought a Theme Park based on allof their movies. Rides and shows associated with everything from Steam Boat Willy to the current Disney movies (Bedtime Story).I realize that the present parks have an influx of movie themes (Buzz Light Year, Dumbo, etc). However, new rides would be great (more interactive rides and/or shows).

It would be nice to see something like that but I highly doubt the company would be willing to make such a huge endeavor with the economy like it is right now.

You're probably right, but it doesn't slow them from raising their room rates. They're asking $190 per night for the Carribean Beach Resort

The higher ups in the company have said no new parks for a long while.

I think Disney is focusing on working on Shanghi Disney right now, so it doesn't look like any new parks in the near future.

I think they're going down the right path by improving on what is already there (SM, HoP, etc).

There has been a rumor for a long time of a VILLAINS park. It's gonna be the park with roller coasters to compete with IOA. Like I said, it's been around for YEARS!!

Honestly, I wish they'd pump some money into the existing parks. The Fantasyland rehab that was rumored before the economic collapse sounds really good. And EPCOT's Imagination pavilion is practically screaming for a rehab. Soarin! could use a new film. The Norway pavilion really needs some maintenance. The old Wonders of Life pavilion needs to be something other than an empty building that's only used for the Food and Wine Festival.

So there's a lot of work that needs to be done at the existing Florida parks. The last thing we need is yet another one competing with the other four for money and attention.

I'm with Future Guy, they need to really update and make all the existing parks 100%. There's already too much to do at WDW. If they added another park, I would feel completely overwhelmed!!!

Very true. Disney has some major updates in the works but they are even being scaled back with the slumping economy. This adds further proof that a new theme park is not going to happen in WDW for a while.

I do wish that more money and time way paid to the current parks, not just the ones in the US, but all of them, instead of making more parks abroad, but we can only hope that the economy turns around soon.. and if it does, maybe we will get some good news.

I agree that some rehab in the existing parks would be good. Though someday it would be great to see a Villians Park.

Someone say something about a Villians park...now that would be amazing!! I would love to see that!! Of course I agree with many of you that they do need to make some changes to some of the things they have now and spruce things up, but man a park devoted to the villians...that would be so cool!!

I also agree that Disney should focus on updates and additions to the existing parks before planning any new ones. I love the villains idea, and I think a moderate sized villain-themed area would fit in nicely at the Hollywood Studios.

Yes, they should keep growing and improving the existing parks. Plus they should invest in a monorail loop from Epcot to DHS and DAK. That would make the Epcot station another monorail "hub" for connecting service.
