Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party

Hello. Just wondering if anyone has done the Mickey's VMCP? I'm thinking of trying to get tix for December. The prices seem pretty steep, even for kids-almost 30.00 a ticket.

Wondering if it's worth the money, and what exactly you get for that money?! Also, do you know what time of day it takes place? I can't seem to find out online anywhere. I'm guessing it's after the park closes?

Thanks for that info! What a great site. When I called Disney last week, the girl told me that the dates had not been set yet, and that I should check back in August! Didn't seem too familiar with the event in general...That just didn't seem right to me. I thought I had heard that tickets go on sale some time in May. Anyway, I'll just keep checking in with that site for more info--wooo! I'm excited!

I went this past Christmas on Dec 15th I think...don't remember the EXACT date. It was WONDERFUL. I must admit it. It was spectacular. The lines to get in were REDICULOUS but they said it was because that day they didn't get everyone's tickets to the hotels. SO everyone had to go to MK before it to pick up their tickets. It was a mob scene. Very frustrating.

Other than the 30 min it took to get IN the park, it was wonderful. It was kinda chilly but they served hot chocolate and cookies for free all over the park.

Also, the parade was unbelievable. The floats were gorgeous! Truely a site to see. Towards the end of the night, the park was practically EMPTY. It was great. We stayed on Thunder Mountain 4 times. We just kept going around! LOL. That's how empty it was. Then, we went to Cassey's corner (i think that's what it is) at the corner of main street towards the castle and had a hotdog and fries just before the park closed.

It was an awesome night. You will enjoy it. I guarentee it.

Well, since I went with Ambo (he's my bro) I can say I had the same amount of fun. It's something worth spending the money for at least once in your lifetime. As a true Disney fan, go to this party!

It was by far a memorable experience.

I agree with stev... its a must do at least once. They also, at least when I went, gave you one free group picture.

Its worth it just to walk down mainstreet and see it "snowing"

They also have exclusive merchandise you can buy, t-shirts, mugs, etc

Its a cool experience.

Thanks for all the info, guys! I'm really psyched about it now. I was apprehensive mainly because of the price-there are 4 of us- but it sounds totally worth it. I know the kids will just go nuts!! (I'm certain Mom & Dad will, too!)

Snow on Main St. sounds so awesome! Another WOOO!

Make sure you get the photo - when you first get in, go to the left towards the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House and right by there is where you can get a photo taken along with some yummy hot coco and cookies.

If the lines are too long, you have all night to get your photo. Some friends of ours went and didn't get the photo - what a mistake. The photo is such a great rememberance and with the prices of the tickets - you should take advantage of it. We put ours in a special Christmas frame and pack it away with our Christmas stuff. Every Christmas when we decorate, we take out that photo to display and relive that wonderful Disney vacation in 2001!.

Will do! Thanks for sharing--that 's a wonderful idea! I'm enjoying every minute of planning the trip--already have a first draft of an itinerary--8 months ahead of time!!! Just a little excited

That's nothing... I'm not taking my trip until December 2006 (a little under 2 years), and I have every detail worked out already. The only thing I need to figure out (and this will be done right before due to price changes) is airfare/room rates. As far as what we'll be doing when, it's already worked out...

And I'd love to go during the VMCP. I think it's great that they give out free photos of you and your family there as well as the free hot chocolate/cookies. great idea...

It's better to plan your trip so you really get the most out of it but don't over do it! You don't wanna burn yourself out.

I guess you could over-do it, but it's SO much fun to do!!! I'm also just waiting on the plane fares to come down for our trip dates. I've gotten fare alerts for just over 100. from my area, but they are only good for travel through July. I guess I can hold off for a few more months, but it does make me nuts not having that in place--it's just so definite once you have those tix!!!

Just a hint for all those planning on attending Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party:

As a few members have posted, the lines for ticket will-call for the event can get EXTREMELY long. Dealing with that situation was a nightmare every evening.

To avoid waiting in line to pick up your tickets, you can do two things:

1.) Order them far enough in advance that they can be shipped to you. That way you can proceed directly to the turnstiles and bypass the TTC or Guest Relations window.

2.) Usually you can pick up your will-call tickets up to one day in advance at Guest Relations at any of the Theme Parks. Unless you really enjoy waiting in slow moving queues, the WORST thing to do is arrive on the day of the event, go to the Magic Kingdom thirty minutes or less before the party starts, or even after the party has started, and expect to pick up your tickets.

Whatever you do, plan ahead. The event has a tendency to sell out, making same-day purchases almost impossible. I would recommend buying your tickets as far in advance as possible.

Nevertheless, if you have a chance to attend Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, DO IT! It's a fantastic event. Anyone who loves Disney should experience one of these special nights.

Let me also put a plug in for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Of the two events, I actually prefer Not So Scary. If you haven't had a chance, you must go! Even if you only get to see the ride of the headless horseman and visit the Haunted Mansion, the night will be unforgettable.

Awesome tips! I called yesterday to see if they have officially set the dates. I was told No, but they will be in the next few weeks. The person I spoke to said they went on sale in early May last year, so to keep checking back for the definite dates/times, etc. I will certainly be following your advice---thanks!
