Subsonic Radio

My question is this:

Which Attraction @ WDW did you miss for whatever reason and never get a chance to see, but always wished that you had?

Two for me are

(1) Epcot: Horizons
(2) Magic Kingdom: Timekeeper

{edit} and obviously that should be "not" get to see not "net get"

I don't know if I ever got to see Horizons when it was open. I went in 1986 when I was 4 years old and then again in 1997 when I was 15 but don't really remember going on it. Same goes for Mr. Toad's Wild Ride but I did get to ride the DL version last May.

I missed the "Surprise in the Skies" powered hang glider (paraplane) and watercraft show at Epcot around 1991. It was cancelled after an offsite accident with one of the paraplanes. I think it was one of the special WDW 20th Anniversary shows.

More recently the Epcot 25th anniversary exhibit. I was there four times while it was open and didn't know it even existed until after it closed. Other than that, I don't think there is anything else that I missed with the exception of things before I was born. Well, I never did the canoes or keel boats, but that's no big loss.

I'm sure there are tons that I didn't get to see, because I wasn't born yet or because I just didnt start traveling yet to WDW. But as far an attraction that was around when I was visiting the park would be If You Had Wings. I'm pretty sure I've never been on this attraction and if I did, it was when I was 2 so I would barely remember it unless a picture was taken of me on it.

I can't think of anything that's closed that I never saw (well, that existed after 1981/my first visit). There are a few things there now that I haven't seen, though.

Oh. The Keel Boats. My parents never wanted to go on those, and I remember them being open at least one time when we went.

You didn't miss that much. The concept of 'daytime fireworks' wasn't all that well thought out, imho.

Oh I remember the Keel Boats too. I never went on them either

hmm.. never seen...

I would've loved to see Timekeeper again, one last time. Last time I saw it was in 2002, and would've loved to have seen it in 2006 when we were there.

Never really saw Horizons (or don't remember it if we did).

Mr. Toad - if I went on this, I was 6 years old (at oldest).

Food Rocks/Kitchen Kaberet - again, if I saw, I don't remember

that's all I can think of right now

20,000 Leagues. Just never really was interested in going on it. But of course, now that it's gone, I wish I had I done it just once.

For me, it's all of them

oh yeah, 20K. That was one of my favorites from when I was younger. I wish I could've seen that one last time.

Thanks for the info. I always thought I missed something worth seeing. I don't feel so bad now.

I don't think there is one for me.... Just ones that I wish I'd either have ridden more or appreciated more while they existed.

I think everyone, especially those of my generation (I'm 27) feel this way about many extinct attractions. I know I feel that way about 20k, KK/FR, JII....Well, needless to way the list goes on and on.

I have fuzzy memories of all of the cherished attractions like Mr. Toad, the original Journey Into Imagination, Horizons, and so on. More than ever, they need to get started on the Yesterdayland park, where all of the attractions that were moved out of the big four parks go for retirement.

(And yes, I realize that this would be impossible due to space constraints, and impractical due to old technology, etc., it was just a pipe dream.)

I guess we'll have to make do with Subsonic and Youtube. But there's nothing like experiencing things firsthand.
