Was anybody at the MK for News Years eve? I've been told that the sewers backed up and really stunk the place up.

I wasn't there for New Year's Eve, but was there New Year's Day. While waiting at the Riverboat Landing one of the drinking fountains erupted about three feet and lasted about a minute. The boat had just come into the dock, so evyone was in line and out of the soaking area, but that's when when of the Cast Members had told us what went on the night before. He didn't know if the water fountain had anything t do with it though. I have a pic of the water fountain when I get around to uploading pics. The funny thing s, my dad had taken a drink from it only a mere two minutes or so earlier before it turned into a geyser.

Wow that is interesting. I would imagine something like that impossible if there was a constant line for the restrooms in the park throughout the day.

it wasn't NYE or anything, but back in December 2006, it smelled like a sewer backed up in one of the caves on Tom Sawyer Island. knedeau and Dr. Ravenscroft were there to smell it too. it was really bad in that confined space...

When I was there back in mid-December, it smelled like that a lot towards the end of the trip. We first smelled it in DHS when we were there one night and then again at Epcot as we were waiting for IllumiNations the next night.

It smells like that almost everytime I'm in DHS, mostly over by the L, M, A / Streets of America area.

Could that smell that everyone has been smelling be the bug spray that they spray every night in the parks? I've heard that it's not the most pleasant-smelling stuff in the world.

I am not sure if it has been mentioned yet, but coming from someone who has lived in Orlando- the water itself smells pretty bad- it smells like sulfur. So that may be part of what is being smelt.

We used to call it Baskin Robbins water, because there are 31 flavors of water- you never know what is going to taste like.

I know it does sometimes smell like garbage over in the Fantasyland area. That is where the cast entrance is and where they remove the garbage. I always noticed a hint of it when I was working there.

You mean to tell me there is a level below the MK? :D

I would not want to imagine how bad that smelled. It doesn't look like it has the greatest ventilation from the pictures I've seen.
