I saw an announcement for a new Magic Kingdom parade during the Christmas Day Parade. Now that I look online, I can't find anything! Did anyone else see this, or was I just dreaming?

I haven't seen anything yet. I am going in 17 days, so I can let you know when I get back... (That is if it starts or if the castmembers are talking)

I saw the same thing while watching the Christmas Day Parade. I did a little research and came up with this: http://www.wdwinfo.com/Disney2009Celebration.htm

It appears that the 3:00 parade will be slightly renamed and probably feature different costumes for the characters. I would also expect a refined sound track. Maybe they will add stops along with the parade to make it something like Block Party Bash. Seems like the right thing to do... stop and celebrate!

according to the site you posted, they will have Magic Kingdom "Move It! Shake it! Celebrate It!", much like the old Family Fun Day parade. it's going to be like BPB. the 3:00 parade is separate and will be "Celebrate! Dreams Come True". I expect you're right about the slightly different music/costumes, but knowing that quite a few of the floats/music are recycled from previous incantations, I can't say they'll be a whole lot different.

I didn't fully understand that since it seems like Main Street will be closed most of the day for parades with a 3:00 parade and multiple "Move It! Shake it! Celebrate it!" performances. So would this be instead of a show in front of the castle? I must say I have started liking the shows at the castle.

it's not really a castle show. the old Family Fun Day parade was a small parade with just a few CMs and a couple wagons (no real floats to speak of). the CMs gathered people from the Hub area and go down through Main St. they more-or-less walked through Main St, but they didn't take up the whole street (from what I remember).

Don't they still do that (or just recently stopped doing it)? I have pictures of a parade like what you described. I think they were from June of '07 if I'm not mistaken.

As far as I've heard, it is no longer done. personally, I saw it in December 2006 when Dr. Ravenscroft and I went down. I'm not able to find anything saying if, in fact, it IS closed or WHEN it was closed. according to the site that Len90 posted, it says it's now defunct.

Ah, now that makes sense. I guess we'll have to wait for 2011 for a full new parade (I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a big 40th anniversary blowout!).
