Did anybody else happen to notice that beginning after Thanksgiving the disneyworld website calendar for Epcot shows a closing time of 9:30 instead of 9:00? Is this just to acknowledge the fact that Illuminations keeps guests around until then anyway, or is there something else happening?!

Epcot is open till 9:30 in December. Illuminations starts at 9:30, with its normal 12 minute presentation plus an extra 5 minutes for the Holiday Tag called Peace on Earth.

Why does Illuminations start at 9:30 rather than 9? Is it because of the Candelight Processional?

Thanks Pack. I was stumped.

I just noticed that all of EPCOT's hours were removed for December. All other parks have theirs listed, but EPCOT's calender is currently blank.

I think that one of the reason that it is open a little later is because of the larger crowds during the holiday season and the second reason is because of the Candelight Processional. I believe the last performance is at 8:15 so it wont end until 8:50/8:55. So the extra half hour gives everyone in the theater so find a place to watch the fireworks and gives time to get all the performers out of the stage area in time for Illuminations.
