allearsnet.com doesn't have any reviews for Boatwright's at Port Orleans Riverside or Cap'n Jack's at Downtown Disney. Has anyone eaten there? How is the food/atmosphere?

Also, what's the atmosphere like at Kona Cafe at the Polynesian?

I've eaten at Boatwright's and Kona.

Boatwright's I've only been to for breakfast. It was pretty good as I remember it... pretty standard breakfast fare (eggs, french toast, pancakes, etc.). I don't remember anything really great about it, or anything really negative. The atmosphere doesn't stand out in my memory either. Though this was 2004, possibly a year or two earlier, so it's been a while.

I really like Kona. Been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The atmosphere is very nice as it's pretty much open to the Poly lobby, which I find very pretty. That is actually the one negative thing I have to say about the atmosphere too, in that if you go at 'prime dining' times during breakfast or dinner rush it's LOUD. We ate there a few Sundays ago around 6:30pm and the noise from all the people in 'Ohana (also partly open to the lobby), all the people in Kona, all the people waiting to get into either of those and all the people in the lobby in general reflecting off the rocks and ceiling was extremely loud. It's a little better once you get into Kona itself, particularly if you sit back a ways from the 'fence' that separates it from the lobby hallway, but it's still pretty noisy. I'd recommend dining at an off time if you want to enjoy a quieter meal.

Only been to Boatwright's once for dinner. Had the Buttermilk Fried Chicken. It was a decent sized portion that came with greens and two (mickey?) waffles.

The atmosphere and decor was pretty simple and it was quiet. There are ship props on the walls, and there is definitely a wood theme going on.

If you have to wait, you can wait outside near the waterfront if the inside is too busy, which it tends to be.

As for Kona Cafe, I've only been there for dinner once as well. The items on the menu have an Asian influence. I don't really want to judge the restaurant by what I had, but for the price I paid, the food wasn't worth it.

My friend ordered the porkchop item, and while it was good, it was still pricey- but not more pricey than the usual Disney sit-down restaurant price for dinner.

For dessert I had the creme brulee- that was definitely good. Also, I know of some guests who always get the Tonga Toast for breakfast- must be really good.

I sat by the outside, and didn't really notice what was going on beyond the restaurant even though it's all open.

And as Disbeamer already mentioned, yeah chances are you're going to wait, and you get to wait with everyone. I remember all the strollers near the entrance way, the loud din of the lobby and the lounge singer all blending together.

I can only help you with Kona. When we went away this past summer, we made sure to expand our dining and enjoy all that Disney has to offer. We chose Kona for its asian influence. We had the Sticky Wings appetizer and it was absolutely amazing. They were a little spicey, but some of the best wings I have ever had. My main course was the Beef Teriyaki. The food was really good. The restaurant decor is really nice. We sat at a table that was on the fence and had no issues with the noise. This was slightly after 5 during Independence week. It was really nice and I enjoyed it a lot.
I would recommend it, and I even found it to be better than O'hana which I had eaten at in 2006.

I can only help you with Cap'n Jacks. We ate there this past April on our trip (my husband, myself, and our 3 daughters). Since we were on the dining plan, we ordered the twin lobster tails (which would not have been our choice if we weren't on the plan..they were something like $29 an order?). They were perfectly cooked...delicious. On my many trips (mind you, many, many years ago) before Downtown Disney became as huge as it is now, Cap'n Jacks was always a stop for a snow crab claws appetizer and frozen strawberry marguaritas. On this last trip, the appetizer was not available, and the marguaritas were pretty bad. But, like I said, dinner was great. I would recommend it.
