I have just checked out WDW on Google Earth with the 3d buildings switched on.
I think it is pretty darn awesome.
Not quite as good as the real thing, obviously, but not a bad second if you have Sub on in the background
What do my fellow listeners think?

I could never get the 3d buildings to work on my computer. It's probably because this thing is over 10 years old. like ckc0915 said, it runs extremely slow, then completely freezes and has to be reset.

Ok for all those will s_l_o_w computers or internet access, here is Main Street USA from Google Earth 3D.
And yes I know it was a big pic

yeah i could see that, but when i tried to move down main street it would get real slow, stop, then jump forward. then i got impacient and moved the mouse around a lot, and there was no telling where i would stop when the computer caught up with all my movements.

It looks too much like a darn game. I was hopeing for a more detailed REAL map like found on
http://maps.live.com, the "Bird's Eye" view.

HOLY....
I didn't know Google Earth could do that.
And ericpabear? Before you say that, take a look at the Magical Racing Tour game. The opening sequence was a camera trip down Main Street - and this looks PRETTY DANG AMAZING compared to that. The PS3 would have a fairly difficult time doing something this well (though admittedly, it WOULD have shadows).

Please resize your pics so people with smaller monitor sizes don't have to scroll so much to either see the picture or read posts.

Very cool! Of course, it's not as good as the real thing, but hey, it's better than nothing.

It is a great idea, but there is no substitute for the real thing. It just doesn't give you that same feeling you get when your there. IMO it is just slightly better than looking at pictures.

I think it's great. I do wish it was a little more realistic but not going to complain as it is better than nothing. We have that racing game too and the opening fly by down Main Street USA is great!!! Probably the only game we watch the intro to.
As for performance, I have a fairly decent (not amazing but decent) PC, 2GB RAM and a dual processor and it's still extrememly slow with the 3D buildings to load and pan around. My graphics card isn't much more than a typical one so maybe that's the bottleneck but I am not that technical to know.
It's a great thing though to go on once in a while when you need a little magic to get you through the rest of the day.

Hey 99, I know you would much rather be watching Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit, but you will be there soon enough! This can get you pumped up for that!

OK we really need to talk about Picture Size
Everyone needs to make sure they only use pictures that are no larger than 640 x 480. And even then I think we are pushing it. This thread is starting to eat up a lot of bandwidth and that cost money. So we would like everyone to remember to ONLY post pictures 640 x 480 or smaller.
Thank you.
Edit:
thank you for resizing Joe90.

This is a very cool feature, very cool. But why can they not use actual photos? That would be terrific!
