I heard a rumor that fantasmic is going to 2 shows/wk in 2009.

It would make sense in January and February. Those are the coldest months in Florida. Not many people want to willingly sit on cement benches for an hour with a drving Northern wind. (Yes, I know winter in Florida is like everyone else's summer, but I live here and dammit it gets cold).
They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Hey when we were there in Feb 06 it was like 40 degrees when the sun when down and we actually passed on watching it that night cause we have seen it before. I know it was unusually cold that week, but I could see how it could diminsh the crowds in those months. But Sept when we go Fantasmic is a must see.

They have two shows a night when I was there last week and it was packed in so well there was not even any standing room left. And this was for the later show which is always the "empty show". I hope that is only a seasonal temporary thing and not a sign of the times.

The rumor is true. I would guess its a cost cutting move. I don't see any other reason why they would cut Fantasmic back to 2 shows a week. It's very popular, so its not a lack of attendance.
You can read and opinion of the cutback, and how to cope with the lack of shows below.....

wow, i am shocked....that really doesn't make sense because fantasmic is one of WDW's biggest shows
during off seasons ok, that would be logical, but during peak season too, now that's just plain crazy. the show brings in the crowds and it brings in the dinner guests (quite possibly, with all of the restaurants in the DHS offering the specials with fantasmic)
you gotta wonder what the budget guys were smokin the day they were planning the budgets for the park
all i can say is, i will not have what those guys are smoking, nuff said
