Toy Story Mania The Actual Ride Discussion

Hey Disney fans I started a new topic on the new Toy Story Mania ride so we could talk about the ride itself. Our thoughts, the good, the bad etc. (We'll see how long this topic exists until we get redirected)

I just got home from a weekend at Disney and my passholder's preview of Toy Story Mania! I gotta tell you... it's freaking amazing and a heck of a lot of fun! The games you play are so much fun and so competitive. You desperately want to beat the person you sit with. You can't help but get into it. It's similar to the Buzz ride but you wear 3D glasses and some of the targets you hit you get the sprinkle of water or air. Very cool.

The Que area itself is pretty amazing. It's filled with over the top sized board games, playing cards, crayons, barrel of monkeys and more. And the Mr. Potato Head that talks to the guests waiting in line is simply awesome. He moves and interacts very well! They have done an amazing job on this ride! As much as I get sick of seeing Pixar in the parks, Disney and Pixar have done it again!

I took several pics outside the building and of the Que area but wasn't sure if I should post them here. They are in the photo section of my myspace page though.

Two things I want to mention though. When you shoot the gun in front of you you have to pull a string to get your gun to fire. I can seriously see this breaking after a few hundred kids yank on this thing over and over.

Second, they are definitly still working on the bugs because when we got back to the load/unload area, the lap bar got stuck and my wife couldn't get out. They literally had three employees have to come over, open the ride up from the side, and hit some buttons to get it open. THAT looked bad and I hope it was a fluke thing. But then again, maybe that's what my wife gets for coming back at the end and beating me.

But now I'm hearing that on Sunday the ride was down over and over through out the day. What does this say? Is this ride going to be one of those rides that never works? Or is this part of the "test operation"?

I've ridden it about 8 times now and really like it. I think it's fun and this is family friendly...it's hard to find an attraction that the whole family enjoys (see Soarin) but this fits the bill.

I was able to ride on the attraction once, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I didn't have any expectations, except that it was a shooter type attraction. I would compare it to Buzz Lightyear, but this one just seems more lively, fun and more competitive.

I didn't really pay attention to the scoring system, but I got the third one down- rabbit or something.

It's weird, I was really beaming from excitement after getting off this attraction...more than I did during the first time on Everest for the CM previews.

I believe the Imagineers really did a good job of capturing the essence of Toy Story

I'm so excited to do this in July!!! Do they fastpass this one? It sounds like it will be in high demand.

Can you talk to the people sitting behind you on the same ride vehicle or is it too large and too noisy?

You can try and shout to the people behind you, but it's pretty loud in there with the noises and sounds, and other guests on their vehicles as well. The back of the vehicle is pretty high, so it might be difficult to talk to others.
