Haunted Mansion after re-furb

I've always loved the Haunted Mansion, and I think they did a really good job with the recent refurb.
The sound system was better. The effects were all working. And it seemed just slightly brighter. In other words, while it was still dark and spooky, we were able to see more.
So, I think the refurb went well. What about the rest of you. Has anyone else been to HM since they cleaned it up?

I enjoyed the HM after the refurb..I agree with you that you definitely could see more and I really enjoyed some of the newer scenes such as the new stair scene. I think they did an overall good job

I agree. I think the refurb was past due but worth the wait.

The new stuff is really great, and all of those subtle touches they added really make a big difference! I will miss the giant spiders, even though they were lame. But, I won't sacrifice the new, awesome staircase for them by any means! Those stairs are COOL!

One thing I did notice this time that must be new:
There are "items" floating around Leota's head in the seance. Items like a drum and a trumpet, and other things. I don't remember these things there before. However, I do remember them from the Haunted Mansion movie. They are items that chase Eddie Murphy when he is trying to find his children.
Anyone else see these? Am I right that they are new?

I think those were their before, but in the refurb they put a new coat of very bright paint on them so you can see them better.

Anyone have links to photos anywhere? I'd love to see the refurb changes since I won't see them in person any time soon...

I was there when it reopened after refurb and I must say that the changes were good. The ride felt "new" practically, and didn't feel like an attraction that was built 30 years ago. I love the staircase scene and the Leota scene is wonderful!

Everything about the new elements is amazing, the staricase, the bride and leota, but my favorite was the new strecthing room. The the audio is incredible now. The ghost host now seems to be walking around the room. It's difficult to explain, but the way he starts circling faster and faster produces an increasing "wind" noise that you barely notice, until everything goes black and silent for a few seconds before the lightning strike. It adds some new suspense to the room even for the people that have been on the ride hundreds of times. Instead of having the corpse just appear, the sound helps culminate that final moment.
There are also many new "sound details" such as the walls creaking, the bats in the rafters, the new bass in the floor for the lightning and the crash. Also, if you get on the ride late at night when there won't be as many people (noise), stay in the stretching until after the ghost host says, "stay together" and you'll hear the gargoyles start to whisper and mimic the ghost host. It's really quiet and along with the new stereo sound makes it extrememly creepy.
