That pretty much sums up my feelings on that. It makes me sick every time I hear about them selling off land. Sooner or later, that policy (and, in my opinion, anything they do that tinkers with the Reedy Creek set up) is gonna turn around and bite them in the butt.

C'mon, can't someone post some news that won't make me say even more stuff that makes me sound like a cranky old man yelling at kids to get off my lawn?
The stockholders should oust the whole board and have them replaced with llamas. They work for a lot less (just some water and straw) and they prance around comically. Great for the kids.
They do poop a lot, but at least they don't metaphorically poop on your childhood and your dreams. Unless you give them really, really bad straw.
Seriously, though, looks like the results are in and it's become obvious that we're going to have to wait for Iger and Lasseter to go away now. I'm gettin' old, man, I don't think I have the years in me to wait this out...how many more generations is it going to take?

to be honest, it doesn't bother me... so long as it's kept out of site of the main roads, and they don't go overboard with the amount of land they sell off.
I'm sure most people here would love to be able to own a home that close to WDW. I know I would!

Booooo...
Bad idea. It's an amusement park/vacation area - not a luxury home village.
It could be ok, I'm just concerned this is a "quick cash" plan by Disney Execs.

I think this is exactly what it is....But the two things the bother me most about this are
1. the whole "remove you from reality" concept of WDW. If I am up on the top of Everest and I see someone's house...I would be pretty upset and reminded that I am only on a vacation.
2. With the market being the way that it is, there is no way that they would get as much money for the property as they could have, say 6 months to a year ago, hence, minimizing what they could have gotten.
WIth all of the things that need fixing (DISNEY ARE YOU LISTENING.....EPCOT needs some attention) I really think they should start re-concentrating on the "Guest" experiences and stop trying to sell me crappy toys (Ballzak sp? comes to mind) at every corner...
Just my two cents.

Mixed feelings.
I want one of those houses.

( Although I probably will not be able to afford one)
But
I don't want houses there in the first place.

I think I'm just going to wait and see on this one. I don't like the idea at first read, but lets just see what happens.

Just makes me sad to know that that little emblem embedded in the concrete over at EPCOT no longer marks the "CENTER" of WDW!

10 years isn't quick. It worries me that if Disney is willing to wait that long (or longer) to see a return on an investment, that this may just be the beginning of some really bad moves.

I can't imagine that Walt ever envisioned people living at WDW. And, even though I would love to live there, it just seems so exclusive.
