Views will be great, but it's an eyesore from ground level and the name seems non-Disney.

The whole building is very un-Disney. It sort of flows with the Contemporary theme...but not really. The Contemporary at least has style and the monorail running through it. This new thing is only going to benefit the people who shell out the cash to stay in it.
That said, those people are going to get a pretty good show.

it would have been cooler if the monorail was running thru it....and the name isn't the greatest.....being simple (contemporary villas) would have been fine....but the view will be amazing!

Seems very un-Disney!!! I'm disappointed.

Hmm. I'll reserve judgment until I see something more than just the plans but another 15 story monolith is probably not going to improve the skyline over there. I agree they'll have a pretty awesome view but even the studio ones will probably cost an arm and a leg, considering they'll be attached to one of the 'big three', I'd think. The name, too... all I can think is Kingdom Hearts. If I get a keyblade when I check in, then okay, but otherwise...

Will the decor match the rest of the new Contemporary look, or do they have other plans? I still miss the crazy look from my very first Disney Hotel!

Agreed. If it is really obvious from within Tomorrowland then I will be disappointed.

thanks for the info, mousemaniacs.
yea, it doesn't seem very disney to me, either...and yea, it might be a bit of an eyesore and kind of puts a damper on the contemporary's history and stuff...
BUT, my hubby and i are DVC members...so we're psyched! it's always exciting to have more options, and it'd be really cool to be on the monorail more or less.

I already have an extreme bias against this and the name just made it even worse. It sounds like an apartment complex or retirement home...
I suppose it will have nice views and people who stay there will love it, but it dumbs down the original Contemporary Tower.

That's what I'm worried about. I'm sure it'll be neat and all but I hope it won't overshadow the original. Other than that, I'm willing to see what the final building looks like before passing judgment.

i'm surprised at all this negativity. personally, we can't wait for this. great view, decent architecture, great location, and good name (what's not disney about the word "kingdom" or "tower"? disney uses these names everywhere: magic k, animal k, tower of terror, earful tower, ...). are you all just resistant to change?
at 15 stories, it won't be any taller than the original contemporary. however, there is no doubt the new tower
will dumb down the original. but that is a
good thing considering the original incorporates the most hideous design of any existing structure in all of WDW. besides, it looks like an upside down version of the equally disgusting
Dallas City Hall (comparison below). if anything "isn't very disney", it's the architecture of the original structure.

wow, i've never seen dallas city hall...
for a few seconds, before reading your full post, i was just staring at the city hall pic and wondering "photoshop?"
lol...hey, at least the dallas city hall does look more modern, and not like a slightly confused hilton like the contemporary
i mean, yea, i love the contemporary because of its history and all....but it is a bit dated;)
