It's a Small World Refurbishment

Post by little_hippo2005 » Jan Fri 21, 2005 11:55 pm

Does anyone know what the new surprise is at the re-opening of "it's a small world," in spring? I heard that they may be making a replica facade similar to Mary Blair's clock tower. :)

They're making it more like the DL version I believe. All I know is the dock area has been gutted and is being re-done.

The dock area looks pretty much the same right now [can see thru holes in the black paint at Pinnochio's Village Huas' window overlook] but no scenery or flats are up yet. I also here the anamitronics are going to be improved as well...

Too. bad I could not see the attraction because the first time we went to Walt Disney World was last year and the attraction was already close. So I will never know what the old "It's a Small World," was like. We did eat at the Pinnochio's Village Haus and I did saw the window at were Small World is at but it was covered in Black paint or carboard, I couln't recall. :?

It's removable black paint that is used, it is chipping off now so if you look you can find holes to gawk through... I expect more to slowly peel off too as it ages so whoever is going soon and eating there have a look and see what it all looks like. Always fun to be able to see into the work areas to see what is happening :D

Yes, I agree. Disney is so good at keeping improvements and rennovations well hidden. It's always fun to sneak a peek when you can.

Thats true. They have peep holes to give you a small look. Some of us cast members took an unauthorized tour. What I can tell you is they recreated the entire DL facade. They replaced ALL the boats. They repainted the entire ride. They reclothed and revamped all of Animatronics. There is a new sound system and the Asbestos is no longer in the ceiling.

i think that the better thing is that i have heard is that they are making a new place to put strollers instead of in front of the attraction. it was always soo packed right there

that entire area is crowded, with or without strollers. it's about the only ill-conceived area in WDW. I don't think the Walt or the other planners thought as much foot-traffic would go through there as there is. what with iasw, peter pan, pinnochio's village haus, and mickey's philharmagic show so close together...

I can't stand strollers.. Especially guests with double wide strollers. They sit there and yell at me when I tell them they have to get out of a handicapped assigned monorail car to make room for a wheelchair. I think it's messed up. I think the police should charge people who ride in a handicapped car the same amount they charge people for parking in a handicapped spot.

Well it's messed up that people with strollers wont get out of Handicapped cars so people in wheelchairs can get on the monorail. Strollers are a nightmare on the monorail and at Disney in general. Go to the park on any reasonably busy day and you will inevitably has some yahoo run over your feet, clip your heels or hit you with their stroller. Most times not even apologizing after doing so.
