Woman Tried To Bring Loaded Gun, Knife Into Magic Kingdom

Post by acp » Dec Mon 10, 2007 6:06 am

A 63-year-old woman was arrested Sunday after sheriff's deputies said she tried to enter Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom theme park with a loaded gun, some scissors and a knife.

It becomes a part of you, like wearing clothes. My step-farther was with the N.O.P.D.. My real dad did some time with the military. We always carry weapons. Sometimes you forget about other security measures, and that you are carring.

I suppose you're right, but in this day and age of security and anti-terrorism and all that (like after that shopping mall shooting), it would seem that someone would be more conscious of how packing a weapon could also be perceived as a bad idea.

I can see forgetting the knife but not the gun. It's not like you can go into the purse and miss that, especially not a .32. If she had to go into the purse at all she should have noticed the gun, unless it was one of those huge saddle bags of a purse.

Personally, I can't see why I'd need to carry a gun, a knife and a pair of scissors with me. Scissors I can just about justify, but a gun and a knife? I can't think of a reason I'd carry either of those, to be honest.

I do have a leatherman on me at all times which has a knife (two in fact), saw blade, file, scissors, etc. I use that for work and other times. You'd be surprised how manytimes it comes in handy, I can't even say how much I used it so far today. BUT I always remember to leave it in the hotel room when I'm on vacation.

Why would anyone need to bring a gun on vacation to WDW? It's not a very dangerous, unpopulated or isolated vacation destination. (Maybe excluding some of the bizzare things that happen at Downtown Disney)

I have had to carry guns for over 20 years. Sometimes for periods of up to six months 24/7. I have never forgotten I had the darn thing.

Ahh! I'm just picturing a little old lady packing heat.

Seriously though, she must have forgotten it was there because if she was trying to get by security she wouldn't have just left a gun in her purse. Bizarre.

Edit: How did she get through the airport with the weapons?

I am pull'n at straws. The woman could be a lieing nut for all I know.

I have had weapons around all my life. They are a part my daily life. I put one within reach, then just don't give them a second thought till needed. I don't dwell on it being there, so I tend to forget it is there. Kinda like putt'n you wallet in your desk while at work, you know it's there, but you forget it every now and then. You may even go home with out it. I am not trying to be a smart a.., just trying to explain my logic. Like I said the lady could be a loon or maybe just forgetfull.

you got caught with it at least once (maybe twice) when we went down, if I recall. in fact, you were telling me that you were wearing it still before we even got up to the security point...
