The Paths

Post by Blackie Pueblo » Nov Sat 17, 2007 4:11 pm

Ok, it's been mentioned here and there but I couldn't find a topic on it so I'll start one. Sorry if there is one and I missed it.

My wife and I loooove walking. I know there are a few paths you can walk from park to park or from resort to resort. Can anyone help me, and help anyone who is interested, in finding all the paths that connect and to where?

1 )I know that you can walk from the Polynsian to the Grand Floridian

2) I know you can walk from the Contemporary to The Magic Kingdom.

3) I know there is the path that you can walk from MGM and it passes the swan and Dolphin, and another hotel can't think of which one. I forgot this path will take you all the way to what... the Boardwalk?

4) I know you can walk from DTD to the Saratoga Springs

5) I know that you can walk From the Boardwalk to Epcot and I think to the Swan and Dolphin right?

Anyone know the others and where you can find the beginnings of these paths?

If you can walk it from the Boardwalk, you can walk it from the Swan and Dolphin.

I can confirm this. It runs along side W Wilderness Way and even crosses in a few spots. It's runs about 1 3/4 miles in length, and runs from near the Settlement depot in Ft. Wilderness to either the dock area in the back or the front door (the path splits) of the Wilderness Lodge.

You can walk along the Sassagoula River from PO Riverside to the French Quarter; and there are walking paths that wind all through Riverside.

You can also walk to EPCOT from the Yacht/Beach Club resorts.

You can walk from the Contemporary to the MK, but it's a short walk, and not particularly scenic. Well, you can see the Contemporary and Space Mountain and such, but it's kind of asphalt-heavy.

Also note that you can walk from the TTC to the Poly, so if you're starting by bus or something, that's a good way to begin the Poly/Floridian walk.

A nice long walk (you can make it a loop if you've parked in either park) is from Epcot to the Studios. You can take the Yacht & Beach Club on the way there and the Boardwalk side on the way back. You can also noodle around at the Swan and Dolphin or take a boat at either end if you run out of time, stamina, or decent weather.

If you're staying at either Pop Century or the Caribbean Beach, you can walk from one to the other, although you have to cross a large-ish road.

I'll be doing the Wilderness walk in a few months, so if it's particularly nice, I'll report back.

Check out maps.live.com if you really want to plan things.

Looking forward to seeing some other good suggestions!

Old Key West to Down Town Disney is possible with a bit of golf course wandering.
If Port Orleans to Old Key West is possible then you can join the dots.
 Of course if you can wander through The Treehouse Villas then you can get from Port Orleans to DTD missing out OKW. :D

I'll try in Jan and let you know.

You can walk from the mall to Safeway...but i'd recommend driving..the hill is steep.

My favorite walk. From the Swan to ESPN Sports Zone and Big River!

I'm kidding...well not really...my location just wasn't in Florida. I do believe you can walk from Old Key West to Downtown Disney....although its quite the walk.

If you check out maps.live.com, it looks like it's not actually much of a walk at all, if the obvious short cuts are possible. If you can cut across that golf course, it's not bad.

I just can't tell what's up with those bridges leaving OKW.

Really you can walk from any place to any other place at WDW, but there's a fair amount of highway with no sidewalks that wouldn't be very pleasant. I'm not averse to hopping a fence here or there, but I suppose that's getting away from the spirit of the topic.

I believe that's known as trailblazing. it's not a bad thing, you just tend to stray away from the beaten path. nothing wrong with that.... :D

I wonder how long it would take them to send me to Disney Guantanamo if the Goof Troop caught me emerging from the brush near Epcot with a machete in one hand and a stack of satellite photos in the other...

There's one other thing to watch for. My DW and I were walking back from EPCOT to the Swan. She told me that the "Bullfrogs" sound like they were really big. I told her "Honey, those are GATORS not bullfrogs!". I don't think a lot of people realize how big the Gator population is around WDW. Please be careful when walking on property, these animals aren't afraid of humans because of where they live.

there are even gators in some of the parks that you don't see. When I was working in frontierland we were always told to watch the waters wherethe logs from splash moutnain drop, right around that bridge is where a lot of gators hang out. Once when working i found a disposable camera and there happend to be a gator so i took the pics and kept teh camera, I figured there was no way of finding the owner since it was disposable and only had one pics taken on it. I told the little kids watching that it was the most realitc anima-tronics disney had, lol
