I just heard some rumors yesterday that Disney was planning to replace Carousel of Progress, as well as the old Skyway building and the Galaxy Palace Theater with an Incredibles-themed attraction. Has anybody else heard about this?

Oh whoa whoa whoa! I hope this is not true. We have had this discussion many times before about how wonderful the COP still is. I can see tearing down the Galaxy Palace theater but leave COP alone! I hope this is just a rumor.

They've tried this before with COP. It wasn't done because of the reaction of DISer's. We gonna have to put pressure in them. OK, lets start writing AGAIN!!

I think that Rumor comes an goes. I have heard it many times.

I personally feel COP should alway be at WDW, its a pure classic. Its a must ride for me.

Isn't the CoP protected by some sort of historical society or something as of 2004? If I remember Disney was trying to find a way to replace it (during that time it was under seasonal operation) but the Disney fans didn't like that. After 2004 now all they can do is move it or update it, but it has to stay in-tact nad in operation.

Anyway, Disney has specifically announced numerous times since the big strike that they would never get rid of CoP. It seems as if they were sincere about it too. The last few visits I was in WDW there was a always a line for it, so I don't think it's about popularity anynmore. Plus, it acts as a crowd control attraction for MK with all those theaters.

I hope this is not true. I love CoP. Although it could use a little love and attention, the seats need replaced big time.

Yeah, this rumor has been floating around at least for most of this decade it seems. It would be sad. We make it a point to hit it once a trip and it's super nostalgic for me.

I think they should move all the necessary machinery to the roof and use the loading theatre as an extra slice. Then they could put the 70s or 80s back in and the last jump wouldn't be so jarring. Still, time marches on, and this problem is only going to come up again...

Honestly, I don't see that ride ever being removed. I see it being update, but never removed. I do wish that they would do something with both of the Skybucket terminals though. It's depressing to see them just sitting there with junk being put in them for storage.

i know the skybucket building does make a great photo op with characters, especially during MVMC.

Huh. That'd be cool, if it was the case. Is there any way we can look that up?

I remember when I did Dining with an Imagineer several years ago, he said that they were planning to use the skybucket building in TL for a semi-permanent Toy Story meet and greet. Anyone know if that ever happened? I never saw it in the subsequent times I went, but then I never looked either. I do remember the landing in Fantasyland being a hub of MVMCP meet and greets, though.
