I was wondering about that. Cloning a hard drive takes about half an hour using off-the-shelf software.

I suppose each drive might need to be different for various reasons, but if that's true, it sounds like poor design. Still, Disney has reputation for building lots of one-off stuff, so I guess that's par for the course. I suppose it's also possible that the drives need to be extra rugged and therefore have some added complexity, but it still doesn't sound like rocket science.

It seems that they've been through this before, but without knowing the details, we can't really judge. You almost never regret a modular design, though, even if it does frontload a lot of the hard work.

Sure. It's a fantastic site that I plug as often as I can. There's an incredible amount of data on it, but (as I also always mention) it is also probably the worst-designed web site I've ever seen in my life.

It's extremely difficult to find all the information on it, even when you've read it before and you're trying to find it again.

It's worth the effort, though, because the information is pretty detailed for a fan site, and all the articles about the ride system and the diorama scene are fascinating. To me, anyway.

Perfect for lunchtime reading when you're stuck at the office. Or I guess you could kill a whole Saturday afternoon, if you're so inclined.

The company supplying the loaded hard drives has only been able to get a few to Disney a week (They were originally suppose to get then between 12 and 15 a week, they're only getting them 4 to 6.) It was going to take just over 3 weeks to install all the computers, now they don't know how long is going to be.
That's not a good excuse IMHO. When I worked at Freedom2, I was duplicating at least 4 to 6 a day, let alone a week. And that wasn't using any specialist equipment. It was just a spare linux box in the corner, using nothing fancy.
2: The contractor that did the deconstruct, Well, they screwed up!! They've torn down, destroyed, and chucked some stuff in the dumpster that they were never supposed to touch. This has cause big delays and some hugh expenses.
You mean they weren't supposed to touch the wand? rats.

II would suggest replacing the wand with a digit. But I'm told that's BAD! You must understand, Disney is BRUTAL on contractors. The saying is.."It ain't over until court."
Because of the way they deal with the contractors (Disney speaking: 120 same as cash, then sue us), You can't tell why this has happened. The people I know can't even speculate what's going on. Don't even ask about cold cathode.

It will be interesting to see what its like when its finished. I missed Cronkite's voice when they went to Jeremy Irons. I wonder who's going to narrate now, if anyone?

That's a ride that needs narration... it's not like Pirates, which gets away with telling its story through just its characters... SSE needs some explanation.

I hope it's someone with a British accent. :)
Kronkite made it sound like a news broadcast, Irons' made the ride sound more relevent and meaningful. Something about his accent.

"The theatre was born". :D

just curious, y?
sorry, it submitted the post before I was finished typing it for some reason

I don't know, really, I just like British accents. :P

That confuses me. When I worked at WDW guests (usually female guests) would tell me they like my accent. I never understood that.

Many American women love foreign accents, they feel its exotic. I remember all of my college program frinds that were girls, loved hanging out with the Italian and English guys.
