Apparently, costs are making the project unfeasible in the near future, with the belief that funds can be better spent elsewhere in the Magic Kingdom. Whilst the project has been canned for now, it could well reappear again in the future.
Bummer.... I was looking forward to the new Tortuga restaurant.

Was it just me?

That's a bummer, I didn't know a Tortuga restaurant was in the works, but that would've been realy cool!

yeah, this is a disappointing development. I wonder what the actual cost is they they can't justify dumping money into it right now...

I know the post said Adventureland, but where in Adventureland do they have room for a restaurant?!

I believe it was slated to replace El Pirata Y El Perico Restaurant as it's barely open as it is.

that makes sense also because it is directly across from POTC. DIsney makes billions of dollars, how can they say they are always outside there budget? This would actually generate more mooney in the long run with the growing pirates fad right now. El Pirata is barely open and when it is, hardly anyone eats there.

Ok, to be honest I had forgotten about this restaurant. But now that you've reminded me, I am definitely sad that they're not going ahead with plans. Hopefully it just means that they'll be better planned out and funded when it finally gets built??

Although it is a disappointment when any Disney idea falters, especially this one, I wonder if it might be a good thing. Is it possible they are pushing the Pirates movies too much?

Also, if this fell through, what will happen to El Pirata Y El Perico Restaurant? Will it remain, but stay closed the entire time?

Actually the location is right as you enter from the Hub - check the link for some interesting history of the Veranda...

It is a bummer to see that area continue to be bypassed, it had sounded like a neat idea and this would be a great reuse for an unused food joint. From the few photos it looks like that is a interesting and quiet place if only it were open.

I'm disappointed to hear this - it sounded like a pretty neat idea (and I loves me some pirates). I'm hopeful that the 'funds that could be better spent elsewhere' will in fact be better spent elsewhere, though. I can forgo a nifty pirates restaurant if they want to dump the money into improving/upping the maintenance on existing things. Hopefully there'll be room in the budget at some point in the future, though.
