Vintage epcot "Stuff"

As I was putting the 25th anniversary map and button in to my Disney timecapsule bag (one which I haven't opened in 6 years), I came across a lot of vintage WDW pamphlets and guide maps. I thought it would be cool to post some pics of epcot memorabilia. Granted, my family and I are relatively new to epcot. My parents visited in 1988 and 1989 and they finally started bringing me for yearly visits starting in 1993. If anyone is interested, here goes:

epcot maps throough the years, I picked one to represent each epcot era:

the map themselves:

copy of the original map on the reverse side of the 25th anniversary edition:

more "stuff":

property map circa 1988 (notice how epcot is actually in the center of the map):

1988 pictorial guidebook cover:

Does anyone else have any cool "stuff" to share? I'd love to see park maps from before 1988 if anyone wants to post pics. :D

I'm loving the Mickey and Pluto in the space suits. Those are funny, I doubt that NASA would approve of Mickey's ears hanging out of the helmet. :D

Cool blast to the past - I've got tons of maps and stuff saved from when I was a kid and Epcot had just opened - most of it in boxes in our attic. I'll have to pull it out soon and see what kind of treasures they might have.

Nice. I like seeing this sort of thing.

I have maps from the parks I've visited (WDW, DLRP) as well as some others that people have kindly sent over to me (TDL, HKDL, DLR). They're all recent ones, no historical stuff here.

From memory (and glancing up at the wall where they're allattached), the list of ones I have are: DLRP 2001, DLRP 2004, DLRP 2007, WDW 2006, DLR 2007 (two sets, one subs opening, one rockin', and a pirates lair guide), TDL 2003 Halloween, HKDL 2006 Autopia Opening. I also have various other bits and pieces.. I have my certificates from WDW, a sheet of Disney Magic US stamps, various WDW Cast Member things and various carrier bags from the resorts I've been to (WDW, DLRP).

For the interested, there's a set of vaguely good quality photos of the Disneyland Resort Paris guides from May/June 2007 during their 15th celebrations here: http://www.andrewpoole.org.uk/dlrp_guides/

I bought this sign on ebay - it lead to the GE VIP room on Horizons. Now it's framed and hanging in my house.

Not if it says "Disney" on it. :D Guidemaps, Menus, Napkins, Magazines, Postcards, Park Tickets, you name it.

I think its interesting that in that one map, EPCOT CENTER is in the middle. Disney couldn't really do that today! It was once the center of the property, literally. The symbol in EPCOT CENTER just after the Fountain of Nations used to mark that. But sadly, since then, Disney has sold off some of its property.

WOW! Thanks for that blast from the past! I really enjoyed looking at those old maps. And that new map looks awesome. Oh how I wish I was there celebrating the 25th!

When you're looking at that map (the Disney 1988 Property Map), did Disney actually own all of the land within the pink border at one time?
I believe so...I do know that that symbol was literally the center, so I can only assume.

Wait, so is that why it was called EPCOT Center? Because it was the literal center of Walt Disney World? I've always wondered about that.

Great images Chesire Cat! I'm like you and have saved every map from my excursions to Disney.

I think they did!! I know they owned or own a lot of the property on 192 and other highways that boarder WDW.
