Odyssey restaurant

Post by G2-4T » Jan Sat 01, 2005 5:49 pm

So has anyone ever been to the Odyssey in Epoct? Every time I've been it is closed. Heard it is for events now but with The Land closed and its massive food court out of service for a few months is there any chance of it re-opening to fill in since Future World is a little short on food w/o the Sunshine Food Fair

Not a chance of it reopening in the near future, right now it seems to be a storage area for such and such, I remember the place vaguely as a kid, the style of the place seemed similar to the restaurant across from tomorrowland speedway although I cant remember exactly what they served.

Odyssey Center is only used for special events such as the Food & Wine festival and also Flower & Garden show. I'm not sure how long the Land rehab is, but they better finish by spring break!

Te Land is scheduled to open again May 5, 2005. That's according to all the major Disney sites and assuming no construction delays while building Soarin'.

The Odessey was a restaurant? I've never seen it open. Actually the only time I've been near it was to visit the First Aid spot for my wife... I thought they used it for administrative stuff....

Have you had a chance at all to go inside? Curious to what it is like in there since it is one of those curious parts of the park sort of like the windows on the back of SE's Global Neighborhood - I assume those are offices. And the Pizza place that is boarded up in Innoventions - so many closed areas that would be great to see reopened!

I've never seen that restaurant to begin with, though I;ll keep my eye open for it next time I go down. I don't like it when rides/attractions/restaurants go down for rehab when I go down to visit.

I was really disappointed in WDW when I went in 2002. Almost everything worth seeing/riding was closed down for rennovations. It sucked. Although a few things were still open. The biggest dissappointment for me was the fact that they shut down the ride through The Living Seas. We basically walked a path from the movie to the main area (Sea Base Alpha). We didn't even ride in the "Hydrolators". Really ruined the trip for me.

The only thing that saved the trip and made it worthwhile for me was the fact that my friend came down with me and I helped her get over her fear of rollercoasters (by going on Rockin' Rollercoaster with Aerosmith)

Yeah when i was there in March of last year the ride thru Living Seas was shut down too... that sucks... I think its time to start a post and see if anyone know what happened.

js3901 it could have been worse, you could have been in Disneyland which from my understanding has had more closures.

true, very true... I've never been to DLR, and after going to WDW so many times, I don't know if I could enjoy it as much(just more to do at WDW)...

But, last time I was there in WDW (like I said, in 2002) ALOT of things were down. You'd think a place that's 10 times the size would not have so many things down or so many walls up...

Actually the official site says the pavilion opens March 31st... Though no mention of Soarin's opening date.

the only thing I found is this from the official WDW site concerning the opening of Soarin':
waltdisneyworld.com wrote:Opening May, 2005. Take a free-flying adventure across the natural wonders of the Golden State aboard this thrilling Disney's California Adventure™ park attraction. With the wind in your hair, glide 40 feet in the air as you look down upon the breathtaking vistas of Yosemite and redwood forests. Soar as high as your imagination over a world of wonders.
and as far as The Land pavilion overall, looks to be April 1 reopening (as "Living with the Land" and "Circle of Life" show are both closed until march 31).

I had a chance to see inside the Odessey Center back in November 04'.
We attended a food demonstration during the Food & Wine festival. This event was held in large ballroom like area. Thats about all we got to see inside. If this space was used at one time for food service, they must of made some radical changes since then.

Here is some interesting info I found about the Odyssey.

Odyssey Restaurant 10/1/82 - 1985 Lunch and Dinner
1985 - 1992 Lunch only
1993 - 1994 Lunch (Seasonal) 1995
1995 - Now Only open for certain private functions. Extensive renovations began at the end of September 97 and were completed for the Food and Wine Festival (10/25/97-11/23/97).

I was at Disney in November '04 also, but I have no idea of where the Odyssey Center is. Obviously in EPCOT, but around where is it located?

And also, Soarin' officially opens Thursday, May 5th.

I remember it as a kid - they desperately need this reopened.
