Alien Encounter show change

So Alien Encounter has been shut down to change the show into a Stitch show.

Hopefully they won't change too much of it, but I think its a real shame to change anything in that masterpiece of an attraction. To me that was one of the best attractions Tomorrowland had ever seen. From the atmosphere to the music and sounds. Why not make a movie based on that attraction instead of converting it to match a movie?

Why not update Star Tours instead? That would bring hoards of people. Especially with Episode 3 next year.

In my opinion, Alien Encounter was neat, but really does not fit the true Disney tradition (more like something Michael Eisner would dream up). If I was a 5 year old again (last week) I think it would appear too dark and sinister, and would probably not be the ride that I talked about the most after I came home. It is really uncanny how some of Walt's original attractions like The Haunted House or Pirates of the Caribbean have stood the test of time and are enjoyed by kids of all ages again and again. (Pirates is still one of my very favorite Disney attractions). Alien Encounter was kinda like a made-for-TV movie -- you are entertained for the two hours it is on, but you rarely want to see it again.

I agree that the attraction was missing Walt's touch, but it was still one of the best post-Walt attractions. To me it helped round out Tomorrowland. The mp3 of the full show is a lot of fun to listen to and takes me right back there again.

So you'd rather see Stitch in there than that scary alien?

I enjoyed that attraction very much. I'm sad to see it go and very dissapointed I can't share the experience of my friends, whom haven't been on it, when we visit WDW. Which we plan to soon.

What erk's me more, is that WDW has so much space. Why pull out an attraction instead of adding a new one. Last time I was there (7 years ago), there was plenty of room by the arcade.

I agree, that it's not a "Walt" attraction. Where children of all ages could go on it. But then you should say the same sbout Space Mountain or Rock 'n Rollercoaster.

Alien Encounter is VERY futureistic. Which makes it fit right into Tomorrowland. I feel it fits the Tomorrowland theme perfectly. I'll miss you Alien Encounter

By the way, just because I was not too sorry to see Alien Encounter go away, does not mean that I am looking forward to Lilo & Stitch!

Those Imagineers need to remember that there are a lot of us "older" kids out there!!!!!

I have not seen any advance info our there on the new one, but I hope it is not another one of those "4D" shows. If they are not careful they are oversaturate the park with that kind of show.

There are 4D shows at WDW? Which ones? I thought the only one was Spider-Man at Universal

I thought 4-D was applied to the 3-D movies with additional "sensory" feedback. Like the Muppets at MGM is called 4-D because you have additional special effects beyond the 3-D movie. Mickey's Philharmonic has a 3-D movie with smells, water, and some of the special effects under the seats like Alien Encounter.

You are right Disneyfan-- 4D applies to any of those attractions that add more than just 3D images... like "It's Tough to be a Bug" at Disney's Animal Kingdom has "stingers" in the benches so when the wasp stings you actually feel it instead of just see it. Or, when the stink bug lets one go, you smell the stink!

Yes, I do miss Mission to Mars. That's why I enjoy listening to the audio of it.

Those Mission Mars seats always felt wierd, that was the best part.

Did anyone see the news on the Mission Space? They were calling it
"Mission Sick", I rode it a few months ago, I tell ya, if the ride had been any longer I just might of gotten sick too.

As long as were talking about ride changes...What about Ellen D.
in the Exxon ride of Epcot? I think it pulls you back out to the fantasy
of dinosaurs...and its just silly now, nothing against Ellen.

The Universe of Energy should have been removed to make room for Mission Space instead of Horizons. UoE is just so dated now, it's sad. However, I'm all for an update to the attraction! Just as long as it's not another change in the narration

I'm not sure of that either, Epcot's future world was a novel way of educating and entertaining at the same time. The new rides only support the adrenaline junkies that can't slow down a learn for a moment.

Rides like Mission Space and Body Wars should have replaced the go carts in Tomorrow land. Honestly, what's tomorrow'ish about go carts?

Oh, what about the wasted space between the CoP and Buzz Lighter ride?

This doesn't fit here but I noticed a hidden mickey in the huanted mansion at wdw. When you are looking at the singing bust in the grave yard, there is an open crypt to the right, inside is the grime reaper holding up something in his left hand, just below his hand is a mickey siloet of a mickey. I tried to point it out to my wife, but she didn't look in time.
