VIP Seating for Illuminations

We had ADRs for dinner on September 24th in Japan. Disney called us last week to say that the reconstruction wouldn't be finished by then. I ended up making ADRs in Morocco. Anyway, for the inconvenience, Disney is giving us VIP seating for Illuminations. I was wondering if anyone has ever had the VIP seating.

We did the Illuminations grand gathering which included a private buffet dinner/dessert (by private I mean - whoever paid $60 and had a group of 8 or more).
I liken it to the Fantasmic dinner option. You save yourself having to scope out a prime location for the show. There was a section along the railing roped off for us right at the entrance to World Showcase from Future World. Nothing spectacular as far as seating (i.e. none) or anything special other than very nice observation location without having waste 90 minute "holding the space."

I've been to a private dessert buffet for Illuminations and it was honestly one of the highlights of any Disney trip ever!

Me, too! My brother-in-law got married at WDW and we had a private dessert reception in the patio area below UK. It was awesome. I am always amazed by Illuminations, but watching it from that location was a highlight of all our trips.

We were offered the same deal for our Japan "inconvenience."
When we were on our honeymoon, we were given VIP seating to Illuminations, and it was awesome. I'd never seen Illuminations like that, and it gave me a new perspective on it. I, unlike the majority don't really enjoy Illuminations unless I have a good spot to see/hear. That was definitely the spot.

I've received VIP seating in Italy for Illuminations and was underwhelmed by it. Granted, it was nice not having to worry about jockeying for a good spot, but the spot in Italy was merely okay. By contrast, I attended an Illuminations dessert party this past December at Mousefest in the UK Pavilion and that was fantastic.

Thanks everyone. So, it seems I will save on time, will have a great view of Illuminations, but will still be sitting on concrete!

lucky it is a great inconvience, I half of time don't even watch it because of the having to hold space for over a hour. I would rather be on rides then waiting. Sounds great I bet you'll have a great show.

I think calling the people back to make the VIP reservation was more of an inconvenience than having the dining reservation canceled.
We waited two hours on hold yesterday only for them to cut off the call when their hours ended. They called back today and made the reservation, but still.
I am glad to have the VIP seating. As mentioned, it's nice not to have to take time out of other park activities just to wait to have a viewing spot.

The VIP Seating has been reserved for the people who made reservations in Japan as our managers stated yesterday in our meeting. I would love to view Illuminations from there.

That's the worst part of Illuminations, having to hold a decent place for the show. For Wishes, since it's overhead, you can still get decent views of the fireworks
almost anywhere you are. But for Illuminations, you really do need to stake out a spot early to have any chance of viewing it well.

The good part about this, is that I'm going with two newbies. They will really appreciate the show from that vantage point AND without having to wait.

My dinner reservations were for the 7th but i was going to Night of Joy so i had them move the VIP tickets for illuminations to the 6th for me. I went to guest relations on the 6th they said my restaurant would have the tickets for me. but gave me a ticket just incase there was a mess up....well after dinner..i didn't get tickets so i was glad i had gone to Guest Relations. Enjoyed the fireworks..(yes while sitting on concrete but across from America without a hampered view so i'm happy) then the next day went to eat at Le Ceilliearerelj how ever you say that French Canadian Steak House. and after my meal they gave me my free tickets for illuminations.......hmmmm i just saw them the 6th. so being honest i told the waitress that i had recieved them yesterday...she said well lucky you! you can go again. I took them and then gave them away.
