A.K. Backstage Safari Tour -- Too physical for dad?

Howdy!

Has anyone taken this tour? I want to do something special for my parents as we have been to the world several times. My dad is 67 in good health, but sometimes his knees bother him. I read some trip reports and they state that tour does not involve alot of walking that you are taken back stage via a van. But, they also mention petting a rhino and I understand that isn't done any longer, so I'm wondering how much of the tour has changed.

Has anyone taken the tour recently? Can you please share how much physical activity is involved and did you enjoy the tour?

thanks -- Tory

Hi Tory:

This is one tour that is still on my list to do. Let me know if you do decide to take the tour. I would love to hear what you think of it.

Welcome to Subsonic!

This should not be a problem for him. You do walk and stand in line, if it is a long wait use the fastpass. I have taken my mother on this ride several times over the years, she has no problem and she is currently 74, with replacement knees.
I have never seen the rhino petting, because they are not by the roads. The best time to go in in the AM when it is not to hot. There are more animals out.
Hope you have a great time.
