Where can my kids charge their phones in the parks?

Hi all,
In December I'll be setting the kids free for a while in WDW again. They love the freedom and I love being able to do what I want to do instead of having to ride all the rides they want to do. And I feel really safe becuase Disney's one of the safest places on earth. And they'll have their cell phones. However, if the phone starts to die and they have their chargers with them, is there somewhere they can go to ask that their phones be plugged in behind the counter somewhere? Maybe guest services or one of the shops or something?
Thanks!

I doubt Disney offers phone charging service - I'd make sure the phones are charged before sending the kids off and that they know by heart your mobile number so they could call you from Guest Services if their phone did die.
We've not let our kids loose yet in the World, but when they're old enough (which I'd personally feel safe when they're 16+) I'd not have a problem as long as I know exactly where they were (which park for instance), and I doubt I'd let them go to DTD alone at night.

If you really want your kids to carry extra power, I would provide them with the Energizer chargers
Energizer Energi to-go They take standard AA or AAA batteries (which they can get at just about any shop.) The advantage of this is two fold. First off they don't have to find an outlet, and second they aren't tethered to an outlet, I don't know how fast your cellphones charge but mine take a few hours.
On the other-side, I don't know how old your kids are. But I worry about how people think there kids are totally safe running around the park on their own. Disney works very hard on making their property as safe as they can, but it's still fundamentally a public space.
I went to Disney on my own when I was 15 or 16, with friends. But I wouldn't turn kids much younger than loose in the park.

Never thought about those Energizer things. That's a great idea.
My guys will be 14 and 12 when we go in December. We let them have some time to themselves last year in December and they did really, really well. I appreciate everyone's concerns, but I'm not talking about little guys. Believe you me when they were younger (and not so long as maybe a year and a half ago) I kept constant momma-bear watch on them. But now I'm trying to let them learn to fend for themselves some as long as they're together. And they've made me pretty darn proud at how they handle it, both at Disney and riding the bus here at home and stuff.
Anyway... thanks for the idea. I love that!

when Dr. Ravenscroft and I went down to the World in December, we both had our cell phones with us, and used them every so often as I love rollercoasters and he can't stomach them. We'd put them on the charger when we went to bed at night, and they'd be fully charged for our day in the park. unless your kids plan on being on the phone all day while at the parks, I don;t really see the need to charge. I would agree with jcodirewolf in using one of those energizer quick chargers. they're fairly small and can fit in a pocket or backpack, take justthe one AA or AAA battery, and fit most phones. just make sure that your phone makes/models fit the chargers (they're put on the packages).

I would go with the chargers like everyone else is suggesting.
I personally have 2 batteries so I don't have an issue, but purchasing an extra battery is going to run your more then the energizer quick chargers.
I don't think Disney has "official" charging area. You might be able to snag an outlet in a quiet area, but who wants to sit while there are parks to explore!

You should really be fine as long as you charge them up every night. I'm on the phone A LOT while I'm in WDW and I've never really had a problem with it dying at the park.

Last time we were there they were in DisneyQuest and the phones died, or at least one of them. I like the idea of the charger thing and the picture is quite helpful. We'll be going that way. That's everyone for all the help!

CMs are not allowed to take cell phones to charge, too much risk, the phone could fall of the counter and break, the charger could get damaged and the phone ruined, the guest could accuse a CM of stealing information and phone numbers out the phone, too many things could happen that Disney wants to avoid.

the reason the phone may have died in DisneyQuest is it may have been working too hard to keep the signal. while it's searching for/keeping any kind of signal, even if you're not using it, it's using up the battery. And radio waves don;t agree well with concrete and many building materials. The phones should work well while you're outside walking around the park(s). and as a backup, those energizer chargers are a good idea
