Idea for a New Ride

Post by netslave » Jun Fri 29, 2007 8:19 am

With the new "Toy Story Mania" ride coming soon, I got to thinking  about its technology and how else it could be used. This ride will have 3D interactive content projected on screens. This leads to the ability to update the ride almost at will.

How cool would it be to have the same type of ride but featuring a different ride version for some of Disney's most famous and classic movies? You get in the ride one time and it might be themed on Cinderella, but because the ride is using more dynamic content rather than static "hard sets", the next time you get in the ride, it might be a Beauty and the Beast ride, or a Little Mermaid ride, or Aladdin!

The list is endless and it would definitely add to the "rerideability" seeing how you never know what "version" you'd get until you are in the ride!

That would be a neat concept, however I don't know if they would be able to theme the ride very well (outside of the ride and in line).

The 'random' ride idea is a good one, but I have to agree that it would be hard to (but not impossible) organise the pre-show. As with Shrek (the film) where many characters interact, it would be possible to have a themed world in which all the various characters could live - this could be the preshow.

Kind of like how, in the Temple of the Forbidden Eye ride, there are so many random factors programmed into the ride vehicle and track... just on a much grander scale. That would be cool.

Or... like a modernized version of how Horizons' end worked. Where you chose your "route back to the 20th century". Maybe each ride vehicle could 'choose' which adventure they had for an entire attraction experience...

Yeah, I was thinking that the Queue would be kind of like a montage of the movies represented. It could be a "Disney Princess" ride and the area just showcase all of the princesses together.

Don't be surprised if you see something like this fairly soon...

That is a cool idea! I really like the idea of the Princesses or Cars and the option to choose your own theme... you never know I guess anything is possible!

This is a really novel idea. I hope the imagineers are listening in! Perhaps they're already working on it. I always liked the Horizons ride because of that variable ending.

probably the best idea I have heard in a very long time. why aren't you on the board? but that would seriously be an absolutely fascinating ride. :-)

there is a rumor floating around that the TTA and the Carousel of Progress are to be gutted to make an Incredibles ride, but the project has been put on hold

I like the concept of the next generation of dark rides. I could see a great cost reduction with not having to have hard set, increasing the possibability of building more in the parks.

COP is an untouchable if I remember correctly. There is no way that will be removed.

Yeah and why would they take out the TTA? Where else could we go to relax for 15-20 minutes with no wait? And maybe even grab a snooze when it goes into Space Mountain? TTA is the most underrated ride at the World.

I always thought that the door sequence in Monsters Inc. was destined to become a fast-paced Disney ride. And how cool would it be to ride with The Incredibles, going from 10-80 mph with Dash, jumping with Elastagirl, etc.
