According to mouseplanet.com
O Canada closes August 20-24. Rumor is that the new film shot last year will be installed in the theater. No word on whether the theme song will change.
Say bye bye 80's Canada!
I do hope they keep the soundtrack, its a classic.

I've never seen the original... I've only been to Epcot once, so I avoided the home country...

But Canada, you're an lifetime journey for the traveler! Sad to see the old film go, but it really did need to be updated. Hope they keep part of the theme song somewhere in the pavilion.

Canada! My Canada! I hope the new film is as good as I'm hoping. Hope the song stays. Isn't it wierd that we love the song so much.

I am looking forward to the new film. And like the rest of you have said they need to keep the soundtrack.

It will be interesting to see the updates. I went to see it in January and they showed so much of the landscape that very little seemed to need updating. Even the fashions have come back into style!
I hope they did it right and really made it spectacular.
Drop another coin in slot and I will tell you more.

I know it didn't say it but is there any chance the inside of the theater will change? I know it says just the film but I was just wondering. It just seems like Disney is removing the stand up theaters circle vision theaters.

I haven't heard of any other rumors besides the film update. Plus its only a short refurb, I don't think that gives them time to do much more.

yeah, according to the official WDW website operation updates page, the refurb is only for 4 days, confirming what you posted above). I'm sure they COULD remove the Lean-Rails (thanks, Timekeeper, RIP) and put in benches or something. But, as it's rumored to be a circle-vision movie again, I don;t see the benches happening any time soon...

With just a few days I would imagine just enough time to scrub it down, touch up the queue, replace anything that has been on the to-do list, etc.
The movie, while much was of the great scenery it could certainly use some updating. Being so close to Canada here I noticed a few things that could use just a bit of updating. Just like China, keep some of the classic pieces but redo some of the others to add more "timeless" footage as well as some updated city views. Or like France where almost all of it has stood the test of time.

I haven't gone to see that film in YEARS. Maybe a new film will warrant a trip. Maybe.
