No such luck. The latest news from the nighttime district is that Disney has ramped up its nighttime security force on weekends to take a closer look at the crowds on the Island. "A gang-like presence was unfortunately identified at Downtown Disney and it will not be tolerated. Additional deputies were proactively assigned to patrol the area and will continue as long as needed," Disney spokewoman Jacquee Polak told MousePlanet. "Our priority, and that of law enforcement, is to maintain a safe experience for our employees and tens of thousands of guests who visit Downtown Disney everyday to shop, dine and enjoy our entertainment offerings."
Last weekend, 50 youths were told never to return to Disney property.
Looks like the old men with keys are cracking skulls!!!
Seriously good to see that Disney takes security seriously

Awesome. They probably need to close access to the PI area again, instead of allowing people to walk through it. That might help.

I hope the security changes do some good. I have noticed some unruly behavior in Downtown Disney. It would suck if we had to pay to visit Downtown Disney. What about the families who are seeing La Nouba, or just want to have dinner?
Aren't they trying to change the image of PI? I mean I heard they were adding more restaurants and closing some of the clubs.

Well, I think the huge police presence will be enough to deter that gang activity. They'll head back to Church St. where they belong.

I'm glad to see the crack down. But I can't help but wonder if maybe some of the kids are just hanging out with friends. I remember being young and not having any place to hang out. Adults, and the elderly adults, always chased us away. Assuming they are being respectable and not your "punk" kids, I think Downtown Disney is a great safe place for kids to hang out.

Wow. It's too bad that the situation has gotten that bad with "locals" causing trouble. I'm surprised it's not more like how I hear it is for locals in Las Vegas... they AVOID the Strip and the tourists!

It would be a shame for them to close off free access to DTD - I wonder if Universal have the same problem? Ooooo 'Universal' that must be a dirty word on here LOL

I don't think Universal is as accssible with the long walk from the parking garages. Its not as easy of a "get to" and they don't have the dance club population in as confined a space.
I'm sure they have their own issues as well, but likely on a smaller scale and people care less when it happens there.

Disney caved and reversed their decision to ban these teens.
