I heard on the news last night about the couple from Conn. who were abducted at Downtown Disney. This is so terrible. I imagine since they were at WDW they let their guard down. Although it was DDT and it was after midnight, but the first night of their vacation I imagine they forgot about the outside world. I can see myself doing the same thing. My thoughts and prayers are with the couple and their families. Here's the full story:

This is just indicative of the type of crimes happening in all major areas right now. I can't stand this type of thing in the world of crime. I wouldn't have so much of a problem with this if the robbers just robbed them and left them along. It is all of this kidnapping and beating that is sensless. I grew up in this city and I have noticed an increase in the violent crimes because some idiot wants to feel like they have power over someone else. It is all junk (would use a stronger word but this is a family place), the guys that kiddnapped the 2 from Conneticut ran when the couple fought back and the gun went off. They are COWARDS that is why they are using 3 or 4 to kiddnapp 1 or 2. I could go on for Paragraphs and Paragraphs but I'm afraid I will get more angry about this and offend some folks, so lets just end this by saying .........................

I feel bad for the couple and their families. I wish those losers that abducted them get caught.

Wow what a terrible thing to happen at a place that is so filled with magic. It's really a shame that you are not safe anywhere anymore, even when you're on vacation. Whats bad is something like this obviously ruins your vacation and this is the memory of Disney you will always have. It's not Disney's fault at all... but sadly this is what they will remember.

Pretty soon DTD will be admission only. You'll have to have either valid park admission or resort identification to get in. Not have to pay, but show you're a guest.

Its sad what we're coming to now a days.

The only thing about this that shocks me about this is that Disney didn't pick this up on their surveillance. All the Target and Lowes parking lots seem have have some basic video surveillance.

I am also surprised that Disney hasn't gated DTD parking. Free parking for 4-6 hours with a validated parking. $10 for the whole day and free all day with KttK card.

People are parking at DTD and walking to SSR or taking the bus to SSR and then changing over to the park busses, just to get out of the $10/day parking. (Which makes no economic sense to me, 4 people blowing an extra 10-20 minutes to the park costs more than $10, in what you lose just in time off your pass cost.)

How does the parking work? I've never been there.

Parking is free, its sort of like an outdoor mall concept. Shopping, dinning, etc. with exterior entrances. There are different lots.

That is horrible, I'm glad no one was killed... Good for them for fighting back.

Wow. Truly terrifying. I had no idea of all these robberies in that area.

Orlando is gaining a very well-deserved reputation as a dangerous place with a high crime rate. It's been happening as the city has grown over the last three decades, and probably most significantly the last 5-10 years... of course, crime has been up nationwide for at least the last three years.

I think Orlando likes to pretend they're not the city they are. They live in the past 25 years ago when no one knew Orlando existed. Its a harsh reality to become a big time city with big time issues.

What a shame, but if you stop to think of it, that can happen at any major tourist destination. Tourists the world over are targets for thieves. World travel, anyone?
