I just got my monthly "mousesavers" newsletter, in which it was announced that Disney has changed their ticket purchasing options. Starting in Jan. 2005 something called "magic your way" tickets are being sold, and it looks like they're doing away with the parkhoppers (apparently your unused passes will still be honored forever). Basically, you'll be able to purchase any amount of days as your "base" ticket. The price per day goes down the more days you buy. These are only good for one park--if you want to park hop you have to pay an additional $35. flat fee per ticket. The other thing is they expire within 14days of their first use. You can also (for another $45. per ticket!) have the option of them having no exp. date...check out mousesavers.com for details and prices....what do you think??? It seems a tad cheaper this way, especially if you're going for a longer trip-I'd have to sit and figure it out!

It seems I always end up having unused days from previous trips... There are just some days that we end up going to Downtown Disney or Disney Quest instead.

I don't usually use the park hopper thing. By the end of the day, everyone is just too tired to drag their bottoms over somewhere else.

that seems much more expensive than the Hopper passes. And the Hopper passes have much more use than people know. It's not just that you can go from park to park in a single day. It's the fact that you can use the same ticket for just about everything. This sounds like you'll need several tickets if each one is only good for one park.

Plus, I don't get wy they'd get rid of the Hopper passes, especially fater putting so much money into advertising it. I know that the last few times I travelled to WDW (not on Disney Property, bot in Orlando/Kissimee), I've seen commercials for the Park Hopper passes on TV. That special Disney station they broadcast down there...

Oh well, yet another way they can make money and stick it to the average man, I guess...

This is very bad news. I know when I go I plan on doing some half days. Sigh... I wish Walt was back.

hmm i guess i'll have to hear feedback from guests who've done it. but it seems that Disney is just making it more complicated for people to buy tickets. what happens if you lose your tickets? having park hoppers seemed more convenient. *sigh*

just get a yearly pass and save yourself a bunch of money

they sell them at all disney stores and travel agencies

so you can do what tiggers do

they bounce from park to park silly

see, now the annual pass might be a good option. fine for someone who lives relatively close or can travel without too much worry of money. but what about for the rest of us? I live in upstate NY, and can't afford to pay for a trip to WDW, let alone an annual pass. And, I don't know about you guys, but I hate shelling out my money for something I can't use on a regular basis...

I just heard about this. Appears that its like an ala cart type of ticket. Seems very confusing and not to the benefit of park goers... I am getting and annual pass when I go down so it doesn't effect me.

Sounds confusing and why mess with something that already works? And the idea of them expiring is not cool! That was the greatness of the Park Hoppers - seems stupid to get rid of that. You know there are lots of people out there with unused days that will never remember and that WDW made money off of that when people said "oh, just get the 7-day, we'll remember to bring them back if we don't use them" and then they forget and buy new ones. And for the rest of us it was always a nice excuse to get back there to use those days up!

Checked out a couple different forums on the subject (including the one on intercot.com) and believe me it seems like Disney World fans everywhere are waaaaaaaaaaay confused!!!!

To me it sounds like Disney has put this in play to encourage longer stays at the resort. The price difference between the 4 & 7 park admissions is only like $20 per ticket depending what options you choose. And Disney will soak up profits from people spending $$$ on those extra hotel days and food...

Jury's still out on this one...

in theory, it sounds like a good idea. Save money on tickets and only get the options you want.

In practice, however, I think it's actually gonna fail...

It'll probably turn out to be alot like Communism - works on paper, not in practice.

Not that I'm saying Disney is like Communism, just the similarities are there...

i dont like that one bit, you have to pay 35$ more to go to another park, i usually go to a park in the morning, go back to the room and rest, then go to the MK at night until it closes then i can take the monorail back to the polynesian!!!!!i dont get why they would change it, bad idea, i think they are going to lose a lot of constant customors like me!!!!!bad idea, i go twice a year and these so called "mouse'savers'" would not "save" me anything, just make my trip more expensive!!!!!
