the entire resort is within walking distance to the TTC, but you don't need to walk there, as there's a monorail station on the second floor of the main building. Never stayed there before, but we did eat at Captain Cook's which was good. the lobby looks very nice... one can only assume that the rooms are nice too...

My family has stayed at the Polynesian a few times now and we love it. Coming from Minnesota in the winter, the tropical paradise is just amazing. We generally request a room in Tahiti because that's the building closest to the TTC, meaning we don't have to transfer monorails to Epcot or Magic Kingdom. It is a bit far from the Great Cerimonial house though, so if you plan to spend a lot of time at the pool, I'd request a building a bit closer.

The Poly has THE greatest pool of all the resorts at WDW.

There is second pool hidden in back besides the main pool with the slide. It is the only pool with a "deep end" that is over your head in all of the resorts as far as I know...

Also, make sure you have breakfast at the Kona Cafe...YUMMMY

Also grab a beverage and head to the grassy hill that faces the MK and enjoy the Electric Water Pageant...

and don't miss sitting out on the boat dock that faces the Grand Floridian and just taking in the warm florida air and the smell of the lake...

The Polynesian was the Hotel we (My family and I) stayed at about 80% of the time were we at Disney, I like the monorail service, and the close vicinity to the TTC and I think the Hotel has a wonderful atmosphere. To walk around the resort at nigh with the torches going...

I stayed at the Poly on my Honeymoon, and numerous times when I was younger...I am anxious to go back, now that the Refurb work seems to be done.....I will say this...it is now THE pool that my kids always want to Pool Hop to.....

Haven't had the chance to stay there but have checked it out when we go on our site seeing tours of the hotels. It looks fabulous. The lobby alone shows how much detail they put into this resort. My wife and I love the fact that the beach is right there. Very romantic.

Our family used to stay at the Polynesian whenever we would visit Disney World. It's one of my favorites! The relaxed atmosphere and lush surroundings make it like a little paradise amid all of the fun hustle and bustle that WDW can be. I recommend any room with a lagoon view or garden view. Lagoon views are wonderful and offer views of Magic Kingdom fireworks nightly. Try to avoid parking lot views if possible!! They have done several renovations over the past few years so the place is on par with the other premium resorts. Also nice is monorail access both in the lobby and at the closely located TTC. You really can't go wrong with the Polynesian

The Poly is definately a great hotel. You can watch the fireworks at the MK from the beach. The transportation & Ticket center is WALKING distance. you have a monorail, beautiful and lush gardens...... yeah, need I say more? The ONLY thing lacking in the Poly... is a hot tub. which is too bad, because after a HARD day of walking a bizillion disney miles, your feet and legs like a nice soak in the ole hot water. BUT they do let you use the hot tub at the Grand Floridian....

I've never stayed at the Poly, although I've always loved the resort theme and feel. I've got a good friend going down to the Poly this weekend for their 30th anniversary, which is exactly where they stayed on their honeymoon. I'm anxious to get his report for how it was. I'd like to stay there on one of my next visits, if I can afford it for a family of four.

I was at the Polynesian Resort twice. The rooms are not attached to the Main House so you do not get the noise from the lobby like the Wilderness Lodge. I have not been there since the remodeling, but I hear it is great. The down side is if it does rain you need to walk to your room outside or walk through the other buildings. If you are close to the Main House it's not bad, but some of the building are closer to the TTC then the Main House. Its a give and take. You can request a room close to the Main House. It is easier when coming back at night. Also, the snack shop is open 24 hours, great for late night or extra early time. Have fun.

The Poly is a beautiful resort with a lot to take in, but it is spread out too much for me. Anyone with small children should take a long look at the vast area this resort takes up and the fact you have to go up to the second floor to take the monorail. I've stayed there a couple of times and enjoyed each visit but you must do some investigating first to see the lay out and where you can get a room should play a part in staying there. 8)

I love the Polynesian, but my preference in Disney resorts are the self contained ones (AKL, WL, YC, BC, BWI) as opposed to the lodge house style at the Poly (and even Grand Floridian). That said the rooms are some of the largest onsite and are fabulously appointed. Dining options are great, location is great and the pool is phenomenal. We'll go back eventually becuase it's a great resort. Keep in mind this resort was expanded after it opened (originally as the Polynesian Village) and some of the older buildings don't have balconies on the second floor.
