Harmony Barber Shop

A few weeks back when we were in Disney World I decided to get my hair cut at the Barber Shop on Main Street. It definitely felt like an old-fashioned barber shop with one exception: The fact that little kids could go in there an get pixie dust or color put in their hair.
Just before I was up, a young girl got pixie dust and pink coloring sprayed in her hair, so when I sat down the barber asked me if I wanted the same thing done. I laughingly agreed. Continuing the joke, the barber asked me if I just wanted pixie dust or coloring and pixie dust, to which I said "just pixie dust."
The barber was finishing up when I felt a spray of wet stuff then the soft thud of a handfull of pixie dust hit my hair...
Has anyone else been to the barber shop?

We've always seen it and looked in a couple of times, but the kids were reluctant about getting a haircut when they're supposed to be on vacation, even a fun one with pixie dust. But it's always appealed to me as a bit of that classic Disney magic that is disappearing. I'm glad it's still there; I'm sure there is the temptation to take it out and use the space for more retail.

That is a tiny hole in the wall, merch. there would be pointless and hopefully they keep it just as it is. Like you said, the little things aren't always high on managements priority list but hopefully this one sticks around or at least flies under their radar. Come on Beaker, photos!

I went in there once and asked a few questions about what they could do for me. They were very stand-offish and distant, and I got nervous and left.
But I did swipe some pixie dust off the ground. Hee hee hee... I put it in my pocket and am saving it for a time when... oh, wait, I washed those trousers. Well, then, we're back to square one.
I hope that barber shop doesn't get swallowed up by the Emporium. Now that store has an appetite for space that can never be satisfied. (I have a certain fondness for the Emporium since that's where I spent the college program, but if it eats the barber shop all bets are off!)

Sorry to hear that the barbers were a little distant when you were there. I know there was a long line forming while I was getting my hair cut so maybe they were just trying to move people through. Then again, maybe not!
And about those pictures...

I love this place. When I got my haircut there they were super fast, so some of the conversation was a little forced just because of the speed at which they were working, but they do a good job. Also, the kids might have a hard time waiting that long for a haircut, but they love walking around the park with all of their fairy dust.

hahah I go every trip.
I grow out what little hair I have left and get in cut there. I get the full pixie dust treatment. I love the looks I get from guests. The CM have always been great and really get into it.
This a shot from the last trip down:
It one of the special "disney" magic things you can do that make your trip a little extra special. I would recommend everyone try the barbershop at least once.

Actually, the Emporium already did swalllow and spit out the barbershop. The barbershop used to be in the back corner of the old smaller emporium. It was the final things before the shop opened out into the street that is no longer there. They moved it to expand the Emporium.
I regularly got my hair cut there for several years when it was still the old shop and being run by two barbers who had been there for years and years. Then they retired/transferred and were replaced by hairdressers. This was somewhere between 1998-2001.

So, I'm guessing they can't touch up my highlights there. LOL!

I've always wanted to try the barber shop out. What is the basic price for a haircut there?

If I need a haircut when I'm down there working, I might as well get one from there.
Found this on AllEarsNet
"Cost for a haircut is $17 for adults and $14 for children 12 and under. Colored hair gel, $5. Beard and mustache trims are $10."
$17 is kind of hefty but I havent got been to a place in awhile so maybe that is the normal. (I shave my own head usually)

My son got his haircut there last time (he was 5) and got the top spiked up with bright blue gel. He keeps asking if we can go back again!

I got my hair cut there a few trips back and it was great! The barber that cut my hair was very nice and he even put the pixie dust and spray on my hair. That stuff was coming out of my head all day long! I kind of decided that I would do it each trip if I need a haircut at that particular time. Next, I walk next door and buy a new hat! A fun way to start the day at MK!

I was going to get my hair cut there one time, but the line was too long, and there were a bunch of screaming kids inside, so I decided to pass.

Both my nephews got their hair cut there the last time we where down. One got his FIRST haircut there, which gets you ears which say "My First Haircut" and they sweap up the hair and put it in a envlope for mom.
The other nephew got his hair cut there, and got the Pink jell (I think because every color is pink to him right now) and Pixie dust.
