On our trip to WDW in June, we want to sample some of the best food from every country but will not have the time or money to eat a full meal in each area. What would you all suggest as the one or two not to be missed food items in each country; especially ones that we can pickup and share while others in our family grab something from another country to share?

It's too bad you are not going during the food and wine festival. They have booths all over for sampling.

Since I love Epcot and love to eat here is my suggestion:

Skip America, you will be eating burger, fries and all the like all week, plus you live here!

I would stick to the take out/quick service spots and avoid the sit down restaurants. This will save you money and allow you to sample more countries.

Here is my rundown:

• 1.Mexico: La Cantina De San Angel - nachos, tacos, tortillas, burritos and refried beans. Pick a platter for the whole family to sample.
  2.Norway: Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe - a tasty assortment of Norwegian specialties, pastries, open-faced sandwiches. Pick up a pastry here, I love the school bread!!
  3.China: Lotus Blossom Café - take-out favorites like egg rolls, stir-fry. This is standard stuff and can be skipped if you are afraid of getting full.
  4.Germany: Sommerfest - sensational sampling of sausage, snacks. Pick a platter and let the whole family dig in.
  5.Italy: sadly no quick service food here. Maybe plan dinner here?? Or grab a snack in the store.
  6.America - skip
  7.Japan:Yakitori House - Beef and chicken skewers, noodles and sushi rolls. Also if you are feelling full, pick up a snack in the store. They have some cool unusual snacks.
  8.Morocco: Tangierine Cafe - never ate here... usually too full and saving room for France!
  9.France: Boulangerie Patisserie - a must stop for great French pastries! Pick one, any one!
  10.UK - Yorkshire County Fish Shop - like it says fish and chips!! yummy
  11. Canada - no quick service and at this point if you can eat anything you are a better man/woman then me!

Oooh, that's hard to say. It depends on what your family is willing to try. There are so many places I've always wanted to try, but somehow stick to the ones I know. Also, the World Showcase is rather wide, so you might want to split up and go to neighboring countries for food. Like wanting something from China and Morocco at the same time might not be ideal.

As for Tangerine Cafe in Morocco, I recommend the Chicken Platter. It comes with thin slices of chicken, couscous, hummus, bread and some other vegetable. It's really good when eaten all together. But all the sides might be a little off-putting.

I had the Nachos at Cantina de San Angel in Mexico last month, and although it was good, it was sloppily put together. Generally food there is good. Service is fast, so that's a plus. Food bought there comes in convenient take-out boxes.

As for Japanese quick service, the food is all right, if a bit salty imho. They also have chicken curry . And yeah, as rdeacon said- the snack store has lots of fun things to munch on(Pocky, Choco, Arare, mochi etc...), but I think it's a bit expensive.

China quick service. I've never had it. But adding on to rdeacon's list, there's also vegetable low mein(like chow mein, but prepared differently). You can also get dim sum(tiny pork dumpling things). I would skip that cuz you can get Chinese food anywhere.

The UK has fish 'n chips. I've never eaten it, and I've heard differing opinions on it. But it smells good.

I only discovered the French pastry shop recently. It's good. Treat yourself.

I would highly recommend Teryaki Chicken at the Yakatori House in Japan. The chicken melts in your mouth and the sauce and sticky rice are amazing. Also, the outdoor seating is very peaceful and offers a lovely view.

My family also always has the Plato Combination at La Cantina in Mexico. It's perfect to split with something for everyone and again the atmosphere is lovely.

I've tried that a couple of times and never made it past Japan without feeling a desire to purge.

I also have to second the yakitori special at the Japanese fast food joint. It is really super good. Or at least it was a long time ago.

Just have to agree with rdeacon's post, especially on Japan and France. Makes me hungry just thinking about it...

Norway Rice pudding was great, and the China was also a good place to eat both for fast and sit down restaurants.

Anything at the Kringla Og Bakeri in Norway. Seriously. I've loved everything I've tried, but the almond pretzela and school bread are my favorite.

When you think of all the sacrifices that teachers make for your kids, REMEMBER that one of them is not being able to vacation at all the best times.

Having just been down last week, for a whole day...I had to have my Fish & Chips, with a Guiness......HEAVEN!

Munching through the World Showcase is one of my favorite things to do! I'd have to agree with those who recommend France and Japan. The French pastries are wonderful, and if you're looking for something more substantial, I think you can get a small quiche, also. The crepes are good, too. And DH and I had a nice snack in Japan once; the setting is very nice. But our favorite, not-to-be-missed spot is the fish and chips booth. It's not the best fish and chips in the world, but when you come from landlocked Minnesota, it's pretty darn good. Add it goes great with Bass ale.

try the Kaki-Gori (snow cones) in Japan. they have some great flavors that you can't get anywhere else, they're cold and refreshing, really cheap, and easy to walk around with.
