My family was considering going on the Behind the Seeds tour at Epcot on our next trip to Disney World. Has anyone tried this tour? Is it worth the time and price? Any input would be fantastic!

haven't been on this one (maybe next year). I know that Dr. Ravenscroft and I will be doing the Around the World at EPCOT Segway tour this December. I'll write a full report of that.

I have heard some feedback on the experience though, I heard that if you like horticulture and find stuff like that interesting, then it's good. but if you're not really interested, you would probably be better to skip it...

I thought the tour was very interesting. It is one of those things that it depends on who you are with. If lots of good questions are asked, then lots of good answers are given. Of course the guide has a script to recite but they are students studying at Epcot and they are happy to share what they know beyond the script all you have to do is ask

i took it a couple of years ago and i thought it was good there were only like 3 other couples in the group and we were not rushed through they also answered a lot of questions more in detail than if you asked the ride operator.
i think they removed the cast member from each boat now that i think about it well that aside it thought it was worth it

I have taken the tour 3 times in my life. Once when i was in 4th grade(many moons ago!), once when i was a cp in 2001, and once in dec. 2006 with my fiance. We loved it! Especially the cucumber mickey samples!

OOH this sounds like fun, but I have never done it.

i took the tour about 4 years ago, and i must say, i liked it a lot...then again, i'm into plant sciences and bio tech.

not many people take the tour in the first place, so it's a pretty quiet tour. the guides to seem to talk in a mono tone pre-recorded fashion, but then again, that's what most tours seem to be like. what i liked is that the guides have absolutely no problem answering any and all questions pertaining to the research being conducted in the facilities. on the entire tour i was asking question after question of how they came up with this idea and that and how certain techniques work.

If you have some time to spend (like maybe waiting for a fastpass time to come) or if you want a more in depth experience of Living with the Land, then i suggest you do this tour

My family went on the tour during our last trip to WDW. We all really liked it, especially the mickey pumpkins and cucumbers (that they let us eat). The boys enjoyed playing with the ladybugs and it had some really neat plants growing. One of the best things, is seeing the people on the ride stare at you and try to figure out how the heck you got back there when they are stuck on the boat, rofl. I've done this a couple of times. If you like the Living with the Land boatride (well, the one where an actual person used to talk - I haven't been on since the change), then odds are you'll like it. It's a neat behind the scenes-y feel, though I guess it's like 'behind the scenes light', because you're not all that far backstage. As bluebayougirl said, it's kind of neat to be part of the ride for a little while. The cast members I've had as tour guides have always been really good, too (college-age interns in Epcot science-y stuff instead of 'regular' CMs, so they have an interest in it).

It's also pretty cheap for a Disney tour (last time I took it, it was $12/person, though that may have changed).
