Does Anyone Else Want More Moderate Priced Resorts!

Hi, There!
I really like staying on Disney Property, but I would like to see more moderate resorts built. I can rarely afford to stay at the deluxe resorts and have stayed at all the value and moderate resorts at least once and some multiple times. Does anyone know if there are any more moderate resorts in the planning stage? It seems all I see being built in the last few years are new deluxe resorts. Does anyone feel the same way? Let's here from you!
Regards,
Delray

I think there are actually more moderate resorts than deluxe and value combined if I'm not mistaken. and I haven't heard of any new plans, outside of the DVC making some new suites at AKL

Actually according to my WDW Offical Guide there are 8 Deluxe Resorts, 4 Home Away From Home Resorts (2 of those are also Deluxe, and 3 Moderate Resorts and 4 Value Resorts.

I also want to say that they REALLY need more of the moderate resorts badly. If it wasn't for the Large Over Priced Deluxe Resorts we'd go to WDW every year

Well, I'm a Disney Deluxe Reosrt snob - we only stay in Deluxe resorts on our annual trips (sometimes we go twice a year). It seems there are 3 great moderate choices though.

I'm fine with the selection of moderate resorts. It would be nice if they made one or two of the deluxe resorts to a moderate resort.

There are four Moderates, if you count Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter separate (and I do)... along with Caribbean Beach and Coronado Springs.
Plus, there are two deluxes that are significantly cheaper than their cohorts, the Lodges (Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge)... then four Value resorts with a fifth on the way (across from the Pop Century)... so there are actually as many Deluxes as there are Mods+Values... especially if you count the Swan and Dolphin, in which case there are 10 Deluxe hotels, 4 Value (fifth being built), and 4 Moderate.

I agree with delray, I would love to see a new moderate resort. I personally don't believe the deluxe resorts are worth the money. I feel I spend so little time at the hotel that I just don't want to spend the money on a deluxe. I prefer to stay in a moderate for a longer period of time. I stayed at a value once (when there were no available rooms at any moderate) and I absolutely hated it. I guess it just a matter of preference. I think they are currently building mostly for DVC and values. Just my two cents!

Woudn't mind seeing another moderate resort, but haven't even gotten a chance to vist all the one's they have now. I agree that the deluxe resorts aren't worth the money, we never spend alot of time in the hotel.

One thing that makes the deluxes "worth the money" for me is location... which is one reason I'd probably never stay at AKL, since it's bus-everywhere. But the Yacht Club, or the Contemporary? Their locations alone make up for the price difference from the moderates, in my opinion.
My enjoyment of WDW is inversely proportional to the amount of time I spend on their buses.

then they changed the designation of some. looking on the official website, looks to be that they may have changed the Beach Club, Boardwalk, and Yacht Club resorts from Moderate to Deluxe. I'm sure I saw that they were moderates before. I'll see if I can find something that says those are moderates (probably won;t find it, but it never hurts to look)...

BC, YC, and BWI were never considered moderates. BC/YC at least not in the last decade, and BWI definitely never.

BC/YC were opened in 1990 as Deluxe properties. I can't recall when BWI opened, but it also opened as a Deluxe. Mods have always been set up as "motel style".

I would like to see a new Moderate. Deluxe is more than I want to spend, but the Mods are just right.
