Disney World Rumor Mill!!

Post by AKLRULZ » Jun Sat 10, 2006 7:13 am

Take these with a "5th park" grain of salt!

1) Rumors from Epcot: the Wonders of Life pavilion might not be dead yet. We've been hearing rumors that it may reopen this summer because they are expecting crowds at WDW to be higher than they have been in years, and it may be reopened to absorb some of these guests. This is not official or confirmed, and we do not know the condition of the pavilion. Rumors have said that Body Wars has been removed already, that things have been gutted, but again these are not confirmed. We do know that the pavilion has been used for some special events and cast member things. It will be interesting to see if it reappears on park maps and if it is reopened in some form this summer.

One thing that has been rumored is that Wonders of Life is that the pavilion may be rethemed to a weather theme. This has been whispered about for a while, along with the possibility of DuPont taking over the pavilion. Not so sure that hurricanes would be a good topic for Florida, though.

2) Dreamfinder returning rumors are still gaining steam. Redoing Journey into Your Imagination (for it's fourth incarnation) is supposedly a priority and would be one of John Lasseter's first things to do as Principal Creative Adviser, and to bring back things including The Dreamfinder. We don't know if John Lasseter would have the power or desire to return Dreamfinder to the attraction. Rumors also are swirling that there are plans to finally reopen the upper level of the pavilion, to tie into the twenty-fifth anniversary of Epcot, and possibly some changes will be made to the post show. We definitely feel that Imagination is due for some sort of rehab.

3) Continuing rumors that the movie in Soarin' is going to change after the Happiest Celebration on Earth is over. There is talk of Soarin' over Florida, or Soarin' over the World, or even Soarin' over Walt Disney World. It can be argued that since Soarin' is hugely popular and less than two years old, there is no need to change the movie so soon. On the other hand, changing the movie would give people a reason to ride the Soarin' over California attraction at Disney's California Adventure.

4) Pirate Mania running even wilder: rumor is that Bob Iger has been listening to Nathan. We're hearing Disney is looking to expand Pirates of the Caribbean into other areas outside the theme parks. There had been rumors of a Pirates themed water park, possibly going into River Country or another area of the park. This new rumor is that they may be adding a Pirate themed restaurant and ‘dark attraction' to Pleasure Island. This would fit with the work they are currently doing to make Pleasure Island and all Downtown Disney more family-friendly, as well as coincide with the 40th anniversary of Pirates of the Caribbean.

5) Speculation that an Incredibles attraction may be on the horizon. There have been rumors, we mentioned a while back, of it going into the building that formerly housed The Timekeeper, although recent blueprints and other rumors have that space becoming a Monsters, Inc. attraction. Rumors are that if The Incredibles are not going into Tomorrowland, they will definitely be going into Disney-MGM Studios. Possible locations: possibly in Soundstage One, possibly in the Who Wants to be a Millionaire – Play It building, or possibly in the area behind Al's Toy Barn. There have been some cranes spotted and tree clearing going on behind the Toy Barn, but sources say that it is only routine maintenance going on there. An Incredibles attraction would be a good fit, especially with the recent marriage of Disney and Pixar, we'll just have to wait and see.

Wow all of those sound pretty sweet but then again I've seen some pretty concrete "Rumors" such as the Mount Fuji to Japan Pavillion in Epcot, and Fire/Villain Mountains in MK all die so I never take any of that too heavily.

I've heard a rumor that Pirates will re-open in MK July 1st now as oppsed to the 7th has anyone else heard this? Or preferrably confirm this?

THIS WOULD MAKE ME THE HAPPIEST WOMAN IN THE WORLD! River county SOOOO needs to be reopened. There are photos (somewhere) of me as a little girl at river country (playing with my bucket and pail). It was my very FIRST waterpark!!!!!!! My most recent memory of R.C. was back in the early 90s ( I think I was 22... so, 1993-94?) SO MUCH FUN! Even then! I miss it so much!!!!!

THANK YOU FOR THESE RUMORS! Even if they are only rumors... they get my hope SOARING! Woohooo!

That would be interesting to have a Weather theme at the Wonders of Life Pavilion, but that would be bad to have a hurricane topic for Florida.

I mean, that would be terrible to have a hurricane topic.

I'd love to see a weather re-do for the Wonders of Life - tons of potential there for an E-ticket storm based attraction and look how popular things like Storm Stories is on The Weather Channel.

My fingers are crossed big time on this one.

I am most excited to hear about the rumored return of Dreamfinder to Journey into (your) Imagination. That pavillion can be so much better.

A weather pavilion! I like that idea! And being a Floridian, I have no problems with a hurricane based attraction. Might be interesting even!

Would also love to see Dreamfinder come back to life. That's the one I have the most serious doubts about though.

And a pirate themed restaurant would rock! Would so love that, and believe this is probably the most likely to happen of the rumors listed!

Hey they opened twister over at Universal and we get our share of Tornadoes around here! I actually remembered when they were about to open it was around the same time when we had the worst string of tornadoes that hit the state. I remember because I couple of them hit not a mile from my house! They postponed the opening because of it, but it didn't stop them from opening all together.

The weather pavillion makes a lot of sense to me considering that I think it's DisneySea in Tokyo (correct me if I'm wrong) that has an attraction called Storm Riders that would fit right in. I've actually heard rumors for a while of this attraction coming to Epcot.

Also, please bring back Dreamfinder please! What the imagination pavillion is now, is a joke!

Also I think it would be cool if the second floor of the imagination pavillion was made into a museum that chronicles the first 25 years of Epcot. Sort of like what they had at Disneyland for their 50 years.

There are some great rumors there. I think the 5th park one carries the least weight. I would suspect there will be alot of sprucing up and additions to the parks since we are coming up to a MK and Epcot anniversaries. You can read about some rumors about that in this post

I think its time one of us starting working for Imagneering and get the inside scoop!

My only problem with a Weather Pavilion is it seems like it'd overlap The Land a little? Although, The Land's theme has sort of never really been concrete with attractions like Kitchen Kabaret/Food Rocks and maybe even Soarin' now (although I guess Soarin' illustrates nature) that don't seem to neatly fit into what I've always thought The Land was, a pavilion based on nature and the earth outside of the ocean - as The Living Seas covered that part.

Oh well that's just my take, I think a weather theme would be cool but it just seems like it'd be too similar to The Land to get put through.

A Journey Into Imagination rehab alone would make me happy... that seems to be the only dead are in the entire park, like a scar on EPCOT.

Wonders of Life is becoming a timekeeper paradox though. I'm sure if it opens for the summer, it will only stay open until the Living Seas renovations are finished (just like timekeeper and stitch).

I think it would be great to have a "Pirates" water park.

Id Guess...

River Country (Which I loved) is a goner. Something might reside there but it won't be even close

Timekeeper will prpbably get a Pixar tie-in.

Pretty sure a lot of the WOL stuff has been removed. I could see a boarded off queue to Body wars/Cranium Command in place for the crowds.
