Does anyone know why Walt Disney asked his imagineers to make a special hydraulic fluid to operate President Lincoln and subsequently other animatronics there after?

I'll give a shot at this one. I think one of the lines broke in the first President Lincoln they created. The fluid was red, and it looked like Lincoln had been shot. The viewers were impressed, but they really didn't want a repeat!

Yeah, he even slumped forward. And one man supposedly commented that they performed a perfect re-construction of the assasination of lincoln, or something along those lines.

I'm impressed, didn't think other people knew much about it.

It's true. As a matter of fact, when Lincoln was first unveiled it was in front of a delegation from Illinois (Lincoln's home state). When the red fluid leaked through his shirt and eerily looked as though he had been shot, Walt was livid and directed that clear fluid be used thereafter.

yeah, they had this little bit of trivia on Modern Marvels: Walt Disney World on the History Channel. I'm actually going to start recording this program in segments for possible use in the playlist (if Sub decieds to keep it).

Just watched this from Netflix and I think it's worth buying even. Lots of neat history and trivia.
