Space Mountain in Inky Blackness

Post by artbaum » Apr Sun 09, 2006 2:50 am

I remember going on WDW's Space Mountain once when I was little, and it seems to me the ride really took place in the inky blackness of space -- without a bunch of stars projected on the ride like they have nowadays at Disneyland at least.

Does anyone know whether that is/was ever the case, or was I just too scared to notice all the lights around me?

I think Disneyland's Space Mountain got the stars first, then WDW's... or at least, that's what I heard.

Anyone else have info?

I wouldn't know. I had my eyes closed and almost fell out of the seat as it went down when I visited WDW in 1976.

I first rode Space Mountain in 1975 and they had the stars back then.
