Where R Cheap Eats?

Post by bayouminnie » Jan Sun 22, 2006 12:21 am

We took a post-Katrina/Rita vacation to "recharge" our batteries Thanksgiving week and stayed at the POP Century. We were/are on a super strict budget because we have been out of work due to the Oil Industry damage here.
 My husband & I found a yummy way to eat for $3.00 total! In the Pop's food court, at the wrap place (waffles in the a.m.), they serve pints of hummus, tabulie, black & white bean salad, and bagel chips for $1.50-1.99. We would get a pint or two and some bagel chips or free crackers, and then find an interesting spot around the resort and eat until we were totally full! The chips last more than one serving, and the kids liked the leftovers for a late night snack after they came in from the parks.
We also had our refill mugs for our drinks.

What are your best cheap eats?

We have others, but I want to see what you got!

Don't for get to stop at Goodings.... good way to grab some eats for the room at non-Disney prices. We usually go there to get our snacks for room.

The Dip Site at the Studios is an amazing value, assuming you like cheesesteak sandwiches

The best buffet deal is at Fort Wilderness at Trail's End. For 15.99 (last time) you get a full dinner (ribs, roast beef, apple cobbler type food) and FW is a great place to spend an evening relaxing.

If you happen to be at DTD you must stop at Earl's - totally a great value and every single one of their sandwiches are the bomb! It's our favorite inexpensive place for a quick lunch or light dinner.

We think Pecos Bills in Frontierland at Magic Kindom is cheap eats. We order a double bacon cheeseburger ($7.99 I think and comes with french fries) and then we order an extra bun ($0.80). My husband and I split it and we each get a cheeseburger and fries for a total of $7.99. Of course we love to add the extras on our burgers from the fixings bar - grilled onions and mushrooms - YUM! :D

We love hummus - we'll have to try that when we stay at POP this December. Thanks for the tip Bayouminnie! 8)

I highly doubt Disney's hummus is the kind you enjoy. It probably has about as much middle eastern flair as Kansas

I don't know, the hummus we had at AKL was quite good. Wouldn't you think the recipes for this type of ethnic food would be shared with the other resorts to have consistency?

Not cheap eats, but a question about food....

Does the WDW PoTC have a Blue Bayou Restaurant?
My BF is flying in from California in a few wks and we have been talking about jetting down to WDW, so I was curious if that attraction at WDW had a BBR?

Thanks!

Not that I've ever seen. There's a Pirate-y taco joint, though. And a McDonald's kiosk.
