I've never really seen the appeal of this event. Maybe when I was 16 and watched ESPN like it was the bible but these days doesn't do much for me. Have fun!

Matt, me either, but I love the energy at MGM during the event. DH has fun, and meets up with a friend while he's there. They go off and do their thing, and I can get some resort research done while he's being babysat.

Cracks me up that I dont' recognize anyone there who's famous. If they said Marty Sklar was going to lead the motorcade or do the Millionaire game, I'd be front and center in a heartbeat! hehehee!

Spaulo - come and join us! it really is loads of fun, as much as I tease my husband about it. We stay at the Epcot resorts and spend the weekend over there. Well, he does, I work. Good thing he likes my job.

ESPN is a sports network owned by Disney. For the past few years, they've 'set up camp' at Walt Disney World and broadcasted shows from MGM studios, in front of the hat. All weekend long, you can participate to be part of the audience for Baseball Tonight and a variety of other shows, and on the channel, they do a lot of cameos of the different rides and shows at WDW. The first time they had it, it was during football training camp, but for the last two years it's been during baseball's spring training. I just bought our tickets to Friday's Atlanta Braves/Dodgers game at the Wide World of Sports, then we'll head on over to MGM and watch some Friday night tapings.

Along with the shows, they also have trivia contests, athletic demonstrations, a skills contest to test your ability to be a broadcaster, and lots of sporting companies. Last year, ESPN & Disney Hand gave away backpacks with small sports balls for kids who participated in certain athletic events. There are loads of other give-aways, but I see those drying up as participation increases.

Oh, and the MGM parade becomes Sports Stars and Motor Cars, as athletes join the characters in the vehicles.

It's only Friday through Sunday, so it's fairly easy to avoid, and so far, has not affected crowd levels except in front of the hat during a show taping - easily avoided.

It is, and don't feel dumb at all! There are so many little events that happen, it's hard to keep up! :D
